Welcome to Jenny Chat

A place to express opinions about life and the world as I know it

  • FASHION/ Style File

You may remember a few months back that I featured in an article for my local paper the Hull Daily Mail (refresh your memory Here). They’ve now launched a regular Style File feature, which I have just been a part of! Its all about sharing your fashion likes and dislikes and your go to style, so these shots are a reflection of what a typical daytime outfit of mine consist of

Pictures by Hull Daily Mail – taken in Hull’s Old Town

How cool is my tee right? It was made by my fave sloganistas Rock on Ruby. And for anyone who adores the Lulu Guiness lips clutches, this is such a good dupe! I put the screenshot up after my pics as it’s not really visible. I think this duster coat is going to be a great piece for summer as it provides that extra little layer when you’re in the shade or be a cute lil cover up from the sun on holiday.

    Duster Jacket- Boohoo

    Crop Top- Rock on Ruby

    Jeans- Top Shop (where else?)

    Plimsols- Top Shop

    Bag- Dollywood Boutique

    Sunglasses- Primark

This is a screen shot of the article, it’s not quite online as yet

Thanks once again to the Hull Daily Mail for supporting local passion! Maybe one day my name could be in an article bi-line too…dare to dream!

What’s your go to style? And what your own slogan tee say?

  • BLOGGING/ Sisterhood of the World Tag

One of the things that I like about blogging is that it can form a little community and bond people from everywhere…yes it’s not without its cliques etc like regular life, but I choose to see only the goodness in us! That’s why I like the many blog awards and tags that we hand out amongst eachother – we get to show off who’s blog’s we enjoy and introduce other people to them too which shares the love and Browns the friendships far and wide. How lovely!

Thanks Ashleigh for tagging me in the Sisterhood of the World! Now, here’s a few lil things about meeee

1- Who is Your Favourite Author?

I’ve been sooo stuck in books for uni forever now that i don’t think I’ve read a proper book for fun in almost a year! I’ve always enjoyed Sophie Kinsella , I spent my teens and early twenties glued to the Shopaholic series and I also enjoyed Remember Me.

2- Which song/artist did you listen to last

I’ve had #Spotify on shuffle (I’ve got fairly eclectic taste) and it was this. Reminds me of my honeymoon

3- Can you cook/bake? If so,  what’s your signature dish?

I can cook and bake. I’m not a culinary whizz but I do nice Fat Rascal scones, lasagne and home made burgers with fries.

4- Where is your favourite place to socialise and why?

I’d probably say a cafe bar because it’s nice to get out the house (especially when you’re holed up in it working a lot) and there’s usually food involved! My current hometown faves are Fudge and Sleepers but Home Sweet Home in Manchester is also the bomb dot com.

5- Who would you want to attend your dream dinner party?

I may just be the only person in the world who hasn’t bout of this answer before now! Erm…if it was happening like, this weekend: Khloe Kardashian, SJP (with all the shoes she didn’t want anymore) Gok Wan, Dan Wootton, Sarah Millican, Ant and Dec. we’d eat gorgeous bread, followed by pizza and finish with cakes and ice cream. Washed down with Mojitos and martinis.

    6- Ideal holiday destination?

Bahamas- I mean, look at it! It’s been mine and Mr Alice’s dream destination since we couldn’t make it there on honeymoon

7- Who’s your favourite YouTuber and why?

Confession time…I don’t catch up on YouTube that much!

8- If you could own five items for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Hmm…my wedding ring/engagement ring, passport, a nice house, a great bed and a timeless pair of shoes.

9- Who do you admire most in life?

Probably Mama Alice – she’s strong, ambitious and mostly level headed. A great role model

10- What was the last lie you told?

Probably the one I’ve been telling myself “I have loads of time to get my uni work done”

And thats me! I’m tagging some of my fave girlies

    Charlotte – Style Leaked

Bethany – Une Femme, Une Fille

    Holly – Rock on Holly

    Sass – What Sass Says

    Alex – Champagne and Lemonade

Charley – Rambling of a Beauty Blogger

    And these are your questions

1- What is your ultimate treat meal?

2- What are your three favourite items of clothing?

3- Share your best beauty tip.

4- What is your guilty pleasure to watch on TV?

5- What would your autobiography be titled?

6- Are there any trends you’d love to try but daren’t?

7- Finish this sentence “you should all read my blog if….”

8- Where do you see yourself one year from now?

9-  Describe yourself in five words.

10- How do you fit blogging around your other life commitments?

I look forward to reading the answers!

  • FASHION / Styled to Rock

For some reason I’m always feeling head to toe black when a #fashion event pops up!  This was my outfit for the recent #HullFashionWeek which I attended with the ever expanding #HullBloggers squad. I wanted something edgy and cool to run around in so this combo seemed ideal – I’m not gonna lie, kind of felt a bit #Kanye esque in this look…Jenye?? Not nearly as bad ass though am I! But I’m well I’m my way with this super cool skill vest. It was designed and printed by the lovely JP Style who are fellow Northerners and were involved in the last #HullBloggers event. I like that it has JP on as that’s mine and Mr Alice’s initials.

I sized up to a large in the vest so I had that oversized thang going on (and also worked really well for keeping me cool). I was contemplating wearing a coloured bra to add some POW to the underarm gaps but I opted for a black bandeau in the end to keep it completely black. By the way – I’m actually wearing the vest backwards as the skull should be at the back, but this design is available on a front or back design and in other colours too (I kind of like the higher neck/drop back line I got from doing this as well).

    Hair – Hair Rehab London

    Jacket – Boohoo

    Vest – JP Style

    Pleather Leggings – River Island

    Shoe Boots – Public Desire

Hope you like the look! How would style the skull vest?

  • FASHION / Sparkle and Bling

Diamonds are a girls best friend…but so are crystals and other shiny things! I spent a lovely few hours in Hugh Rice with some of my blogging pals getting some much needed accessory inspo (as you’ll notice I don’t wear them too often) and, unfortunately for Mr Alice, generating a huuuuuge Wishlist for Birthday/Graduation/Christmas presents!

I’ve always been a massive Swarovski fan, I remember purchasing a beautiful choker as a teenager that I still cherish…It shows how timeless a good bit of sparkle can be! I really like these stardust bracelets as they’ll go with anything and everything. I picked a subtle combo in these GreyBlack and Silver Grey single wraps…  …and the added a little boom boom POW with this brighter combo of PinkRed and Fuchsia. These double wraps would also look fab around a high bun for an unexpected bit of sparkle.

Rings ‘n Things with Thomas Sabo

I like the layered ring and midi ring look so I thought it’d be really interested to play about with this trend using something a bit more sparkly. We had discussions between us about the mixing of metal colours and decided that we like the cool look of seeing them together. I think some of their range can be so much more than just cocktail/occasion pieces…Uber glam #coachella accessories, anyone?

I was also lucky enough to get my hands on some gorgeous metallic tattoo transfers which I’m going to try out really soon…stay posted to Instagram!

    Daisy, Daisy….

Not a brand I’ve heard of before but their pieces give me such a summer vibe! I don’t have pierced ears but these Chakra Drop Earrings are the perfect example, my girl Charley wore them to Hull Fashion Week and they looked gorge

    Michael Kors

I’m not the biggest rose gold fan but I’m changing my mind with these pieces as the shade is much more subtle than what I’ve seen before. I was totally crushing on this belt Bangle – it fastens like a belt and even has different holes to adjust the fit.

The #watches are really good value for a high profile brand, definitely accessible for my #graduation wish list! This first Watch is from the new season drop and has a really cute pink strip running throb the middle. I also really liked the bold turquoise and orange faces as part of the #spring range.

The Bradshaw watch was my fave, it’s funky yet I don’t think it will date. Anything called a Bradshaw has gotta be a stylish bet right?

     Bling Goals

I was lucky enough to sneak a peek at some of the higher end items, including this retro pre-owned #Rolex. Now THIS is truly, timeless.

I think whatever the question, the answer would be YES to these beauties – Both a around the 34k mark and totally gorgeous is real life! Hugh Rice have their own workshop so are able to design pieces to order as well, it’s nice to think you have a special piece that’s uniquely yours for a special occasion

The crowning glory…this is a beautiful opal that I was lucky enough to try on…I feel like, if they ever remake Titanic, this would have to be ‘that necklace’ (which Mr Rice was thrilled to hear!) Absolutely amazing.

Thank you to all of the staff who looked after me as I browsed and tried, I’ll be back soon!

    Which pieces are your faves?

    Stay Stylish (and sparkly)

  • EVENT / Hull Fashion Week

I’m proudly from #Hull and now we’re the City of Culture for 2017 it’s getting more exciting to be here all the time. But we’ve actually had our own Fashion Week for the last few years – promoting #fashion that can be picked up locally and pieces that are made locally too. We’re a pretty creative bunch you know! It’s lovely that they appreciate the relevance of #bloggers to this type of event and the #HullBloggers are equally as obsessed…

This wassome #selfystick fun in the photobooth…I need to work on how to use it still! Tips appreciated.

    Presenters

We had the pleasure of some of our fave local personalities as hosts – Stylish weather girl Keeley Donovan (@KeeleyDonovan) and fly guy rapper  Nineties Boy (who’s music is amazeballs!). They were joined by star stylist Lewis-Duncan Weedon (@ldweedon)  who styled their stage looks and talked the audience through the trends from each catwalk presentation.

    Catwalks

I’ve just included a selection of my faves but there were lots!

Sports Chic – this included a really  cool insert of polo wear in support of the local club, and the cute as a button mini model
