  • BEAUTY / Brown. Cocoa Brown.

As a pale skinned gal I’m occasionally partial to wanting a cheeky #sunkissed glow, it just makes me feel nicer in certain clothes. However I haven’t dared to #tan  for the last couple of years as I had had a very unfortunate run of some of the WORST spray tans a person could have…they were bad….one tan was so bad that the salon refused to claim rsponsibolity and blocked me from their social media so I couldn’t warn their other clients!

I was introduced to Cocoa Brown products by the #HullBloggers and after speaking to their team about my tanning disasters they suggested I give home #tanning a go to see if I could do a better job myself. Challenge accepted!

    BEFORE

*Warning: I have no make up in these shots. I’m rubbish at selfies. I am also well aware that I am not skinny or toned*

    Step 1 – EXFOLIATION

I used the Tough Stuff exfoliator sachet (full sized bottle is pictured) after a vigorous body brush on my body (mainly my dry areas like ankles and elbows). It’s literally the best exfoliator I’ve ever used – I felt sooooooo soft, warm and tingly all over my skin afterwards! And I felt sooo relaxed, which is always appreciated in the midst of final semester uni stress.

    Step 2 – TAN APPLICATION

I used the 1 Hour Tan Mousse for ease and speed, which I applied with the Pink Tanning Mitt . I was promised it’d go on with a guide colour so I could see where Id applied it and that it wouldn’t smell of fake tan, at this stage stage that was exactly true! I found it super easy to apply but had to get Mr Alice to do my back half as I couldn’t quite reach.

    Step 3 – DEVELOPMENT

Thee was no way I was taking pics of me in this stage, sorry! I decided to start with a lighter colour so left the tan on for the hour (you can leave it on up to 3 if you want). It started to smell a teeny bit tan like towards the end but the smell was still overall really girly and nice.

    AFTER

*Warning- see previous warning about no make up/jelly belly etc*

The colour has come out light and subtle which is great for me! I had a slight issue with my hands as I’d managed to put too much on my fingers, but a quick buff with more Tough Stuff sorted the right out.

    Step 4 – ENHANCEMENT / MAINTANENCE

Because I went for a lighter colour I thought I’d attempt to to up on my legs with this gradual tanner. It goes on like a really thick moisturiser and has the same guide colour as the tan has which should help with application. However, me being, I got a bit heavy handed around my feet and they got a little bit too stained! That just means I need more practice.

    VERDICT

Good! I can tan at home for a fraction of the price with better results, and I’ve discovered am exfoliator that is going to become my go to beauty product and saviour for getting gorgeously soft summer skin. I haven’t tried the Gentle Bronze yet but it’s going to be great to keep my colour looking fresh as it fades I suspect. But I’m already looking forward to trying out even more products – next on my list is the Lovely Legs spray now we’re approaching skirt weather.

Cocoa Brown products are now on sale in the UK at Superdrug and Tesco, and the company are also in the process of expanding into the U.S. We’ll all be Cocoa bronzed before we know it!

Have you ever tried Cocoa Brown products? And what are your top home tanning tips?

    Stay Stylish (and bronzed)

  • FASHION/ Spring is in the air

…and the lighter colours are into my wardrobe! It’s still a little chilly so the pieces are warm but the colours are definitely ready for the sunny weather outside

Honestly, thre are NO pictures I can take that truly show off the fabulousness of these #shoes – they’re a holographic material and change colours as they catch the light, the perfect #summer shoes that will go with everything! You’ll be seeing them more. I like the zip detailing on the top as well – not only does it add a lil edge but they can also adjust the fit of the top to be baggier around the bottom and neckline, in this case you really can change the fashion to fit YOU!

    Top – ILWF

    Jeans – Top Shop

    Bag – Missguided

    Shoes – Missguided

Hope you like the look, what are you changing about your wardrobe now that spring is springing?

  • FASHION / We all Deserve Good Jeans

Personally I think I have pretty decent genes courtesy of Mama and Grandmama Alice, because I can still totally pass for 21 right…right? Don’t kill my daydream! But every gal needs a good pair of #Jeans for any occasion too, so instead of my usual Sunday Weekly Style Round Up I thought I’d pick some of my fave #celebstyle in some fierce denims

    Perrie Edwards does Flares

I’m really going to enjoy this 70s vibe when the weather gets a big warmer! Perrie is quite a cool hippy chick anyway so she nailed the look waaaaaay before everyone else, but it’s still such an easy yet chic look to work for us fashionista pretenders. Wearing the bottoms long like this with a crop top gives a great illusion of height too, great for fellow shorties like me! Here are some great pieces to werk this trend

Jeans – Top Shop Jamie Flare Jeans  (and before you ask – of course I already have them, they’re Jamies!)

    Hat – Missguided

    Crop Top – Missguided

    Chloe Simms does Acid Wash

First things first – I really like her new Kimye do! It may be getting a bit warm (I hope!) for the fluff but this wash of denim is giving me all sorts of festival vibes…Coachella, anyone? My version of the look

    Jeans – Pretty Little Thing

Tee – Pretty Little Thing *Exact Match* (and 15% off until Midnight Sunday using EASTER15)

    Trainers – New Look

    Lucy Meck does Ripped Skinnies

A girly after my own heart – not only does Luce like my fave style, but these are also my go to Top Shop Jamie jeans! It’s great that by going for a sparkly flat as it still keeps the shoes looking cute in the absence of a heel. My version

Jeans – Top Shop Jamie Jeans *Exact Match*

    Tee – Missguided

    Espadrilles – New Look

Cara D does Extreme Rip Skinnies

Cara’s are the one of style I wouldn’t mind trying but haven’t, sadly my thighs dictate that I shouldn’t! They’re such a cool look for day or night though, my version is a bit more summery as I’ve swapped out the jumper for a crop tee

Jeans – Top Shop Jamie Jeans

    Tee – Boohoo

    Shoes – Public Desire

Kylie Jenner does Double Denim and a Skirt

Kyles dances to the beat of her own drum yet again! I’m definitely a double denim fan but I’m not sure I’m embracing the skirts as yet…in a nice thing stretch denim maybe. But I’ve done a similar look below complete with the pom pom – it’s too warm for a jacket but we can still work that fluff in!

    Skirt – Missguided

    Jacket – Boohoo

    Pom Pom – River Island

What’s your fave style/colour of #jeans, and what do you pair them with? Comment below or tweet @IamJennyChat to let me know. Do t forget, you can also join me over at Depop where I’ve uploaded some gorge new items.

Enjoy the rest of your #easter weekend

FOOD / Eat and Drink Your Way Around London

It’s one of the fash hubs of the world, but #london also has a variety of pretty awesome experiences for massive foodies like meeeee! Here are some of my current faves
    Bubbleology

This is basically cold tea drinks with tapioca bubbles in it that add a really interesting texture (or bubbles, if you will) to your drink! A great lil’ pit stop at any time of day
    Lola’s Cupcakes

I adore cake soooo much that I went underground to buy these beauties from the Kings Cross tube station…true story! They’re sold in other places too and have some really unique flavours – this selection includes peanut butter and apple crumble, and the frosting is uh-may-zing.
    May Fair Kitchen

Situated at the popular May Fair Hotel, they do a three course Sunday lunch for a fantastic £29.50pp which has really decent portion sizes. I used the ‘Bookatable’ app to make a reservation for Mr Alice and I’s anniversary, and as you can see they were lovely in marking it for us. Brilliant service from all staff, and their head chef is from (my home town for those of you who don’t know) Hull! Little tip – after your meal, pop across the lobby to the bar and sample one of the hotel’s yummy cocktails
    The Red Lion

If the Prime Minister popped out to his local pub, this would be it. It’s right between Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament and they claim a wealthy of politicians (including Winston Churchill) have been fans over the years. After trying their food, I’m not surprised! Proper British food, as I’m such a pie fan I couldn’t resist…and it did not disappoint!
    Houses of Parliament

Probably not where you’d imagine having a good experience in London per se, but it’s definitely one that not everyone does! This is afternoon tea served in a marquee on the terrace overlooking the Thames. It can only be booked as an extra with a tour of the building (which is an experience I unexpectedly enjoyed, it’s a stunning place) and the fizz is also extra as tea is included as standard.
A very diverse range of eats and drinks, for me that’s one of the beauties of London Town! There are soooo many more great ones.
Have you tried any of these places, and where else would you recommend to eat or drink in London?

  • FASHION/ Simple Street Style

Sorry for the blogging silence over the last few days – for those of you who follow me on #Instagram (and if you don’t, do! thisisjennychat) you’ll have seen that I’ve been in #London with Mr Alice as a little birthday treat. So I’ve been getting my tourist ‘ooooon and not had the wifi to upload a new post until now! This is just a little bit of street style I wore for running around in, simple and comfy

This is actually another new pair of jeans….I know, I know! These are a faded black wash with a super high waist and lots of stretch which makes them feel as comfy as jeggings but extra stylish. The tee is also really lightweight so was great for keeping out the chill but not being too warm, and I adore the ribbed texture on this grey waistcoat. Think it’s my new fave.

    Waistcoat- ILWF

    Tee- Top Shop

    Jeans- Top Shop Joni Jeans

    Pumps- Matalan

What sort of look do you normally go for when you’re in tourist mode? Hope you liked mine!
