  • FASHION/ Luck be a Lady…

I picked the post title because, when I put this outfit on, the Mr exclaimed “that’s the best length skirt I’ve ever seen you wear!” What on Earth could he be saying?? I’ve wanted to try a midi for ages and this one felt the most like me – quirky ditzy print, monochrome with a bit of neon and a total contender for Carrie Bradshaw’s walk in

Because I’m short and curvy, I figured this style would work best for me with a fitted crop top to counter the flowy skirt and highlight my smallest part, and a heel for height lost in the length. The heels are only small so they’re equally practical and stylish which is great for all the walking I did in them along the Turkish streets!

  • BEAUTY/ My Summer Beauty Must Haves

Beauty goes hand in hand with fashion – no point in making an effort with the clothes if the rest is forgotten about right? In my opinion, kind of a buzz kill to the overall look! So with that in mind, I thought I’d share some of my fave hair and beauty items that I use to complete the package. I don’t usually spend a lot on beauty products, trial and error has taught me what works.

    Hair

    IMG_4081-0.JPG

As I have ombré hair I usually wear it down, but it’s super fine so doesn’t hold much volume for too long. The Batiste dry shampoo is ideal to keep it pepped up as it boosts the roots (especially if I use the XXL volume version, but I don’t often as it leave my hair a bit sticky like hairspray) as well as keeping my hair looking and smelling fresh. Great when you’ve been out in the sun! I can be a total Lazy Daisy too, so I wear Hair Rehab London clip in bun A LOT (http://www.hairrehablondon.com/hair-products/buns) It’s my Haviour! (That’s hair saviour) It totally blends with my natural hair (if you send them a pic Popery will advise on which colour is best for you) during the day I mess it up a little to get a more casual look, during the evening or for more formal occasions I tend to brush it out and wear it as a sleek ballet bun.

    Skin

    IMG_4083-0.JPG

All of these are relatively new additions to my make up bag, I don’t know why I didn’t have them before! I use the Baby Skin (Maybelline) during the day just to smooth/sheen out my skin before applying everything else (it makes me chuckle that on the packaging it states ‘not for babies’, who is getting confused?!) as it stops my eyeshadow creasing. I layer the BB cream (Maybelline) over it in the evenings as I don’t like foundation, but I do like a clear and flawless looking base for evening make up looks. The MUA powder creates the best and brightest sheen I’ve ever seen! And in hot weather it makes you skin gleam without looking more ‘dewy’ than nature is already making it…

    Eyes

    IMG_4084.JPG

The eyes are the window to the soul so people see how amazing you are through them! I always feel more confident when my eyebrows and lashes are sorted (I’m occasionally partial to lash extensions). The mini brush at the end of the brow pencil (Rimmel) is super helpful (along with a cotton bud) for precision. I’m into more natural shadow colours at the minute so a combo (Miss Sporty) is ideal as I can make the colour darker and more textured depending on my mood. I was useless with eyeliner before I discovered felt tip (Collection Extreme Felt Tip Liner in black) now I can make it thicker or finer as I want nooooo problem (well, minimal problems. Cotton buds come in very handy here too!). I do 1 coat of mascara (Miss Sporty Pump Up Extreme in Black) for daytime, 2 for evening. As the name suggests, this Rimmel Wake me Up concealer does exactly that for my little baggies!

    Lips

    IMG_4088.JPG

I lurve me a colour pop lip! For value, colour and staying power, Revlon are the one. If I’m more casual (yes, it happens) or need to tone it down, rose tinted Vaseline is the perfect amount of sheen and smells lovely.

    Bathroom Beauty

    IMG_4090.JPG

Have never felt more tingly clean or fresh than when I use this Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Oil shower gel. When I’m on holiday I use the scrub version as it keeps my tan fresher and skin free from buildup. I use the Coconut Shimmer Body Butter (http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/bath-body-care/body-butter/coconut-shimmer-body-butter.aspx) instead of after sun and at home when I go out so that my skin has a sexy sparkle about it. Anybody with ombré or blonde hair like mine should use Touch of Silver shampoo – it makes sure the colour stays classy not brassy. I also tried the conditioner but find others work as well for me.

    Scent

    IMG_4087.JPG

I have 2 scents for daytime so I can either smell girly or fruity- Body Shop Mango EDT (http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/bath-body-care/eau-de-toilette/mango-eau-de-toilette.aspx) and Vera Wang Princess. For the evening I also have 2- this Cerutti 1882 is my go to, I also have another one for date nights with the Mr (which is for me to know, hehe).

Almost everything in this post can be bought from Superdrug unless I’ve put up another link, so really easy to get hold of.

  • FASHION/ Wedding/Races, Part 3 – Crochet With Class

In a few days the women of East Yorkshire will be glam ing up for one of the most important days on their style calendar – The Journal Ladies Day at Beverley Race Course (tickets still available here https://kiosk.iristickets.co.uk/k;jsessionid=2E6880C1BDA6BE352E2164C0D5C39575.app01.lon0?beverleyraces&beverleyraces ). I’m not sure if I’ll make it yet but if I do, this is what I’d wear

I’ve already worn this outfit when I celebrated my birthday last year (see below where I was grooving to 59 Cent “go shorty, it’s ya birthday…”) and over a year later it’s still one of AX Paris’ top sellers which cements it as a stylish yet timeless outfit for me! Just change up the accessories. I wore it with wedge stilettos and a clutch the first time, for the races I’d swap these for a low block heel (won’t sink into the grass or hurt when you’re standing up all day) and a larger quilted bag (makes it more daytime and can hold more essentials for the longer day). It also comes in a shorter, skater style if midi length doesn’t work for you

  • FASHION/ Playtime

Daisy Daisy, give me your answer doooo….who else remembers that?? Seemed appropriate as today’s look is the Tiny Daisy playsuit from AX Paris. One of my long time fave brands as they’re have a great mix of classic (like my beautiful lace waist skater I posted a couple weeks ago) and on trend pieces and are great value for money. Apologies for the mardy face in most of these, I was fighting the dreaded holiday lurgy (I’m THAT dedicated I still wanted to shoot through the pain!)

    20140806-105548-39348554.jpg

At home I’d have probably worn this with a wedge of some sort, but as I was going on a boat trip a flat jelly flip flop seemed perfect as they’re easy to walk on and waterproof.

  • FASHION/ Bargain Buys

As a student I’m always on the look out for pieces that are cheap as well as stylish. This is a quick and cute little look put together for a day trip on holiday in Turkey. I probably wouldn’t wear this at home, buts it fun in the Turkish sun!

    20140804-182525-66325459.jpg

    20140804-182523-66323329.jpg

    20140804-182524-66324557.jpg

As well as being amazing value (each piece cost less than £10) it’s extremely practical – the dress is lightweight so cool and doesn’t take up much room in a beach bag whilst sunbathing, and the jelly shoes (soooo pleased these are back and that grown ups are allowed to wear them!) are waterproof for paddling in pebbly waters (as there certainly are where I’ve been staying) and are easy to walk in with a ‘proper’ sole and straps. Winner. I also popped a black studded skinny belt around the waist whilst I was out walking just to pull it in and give it a little shape.

    Dress- Primark £7
    Sunnies- Primark £1
