  • FASHION/ Race Day Inspo

For me, Ladies Day at the races is right up there with afternoon tea on my ‘fabulously girly things to do’ list – get super dressed up during the day, have some yummy food, a cheeky glass or two of fizz and a great giggle with friends. Pretty perfect right?

This year I’m really excited to be attending my first ever #LadbrokesLadiesDay at Doncaster Racecourse. I visited the course last year for the opening day races and was really impressed by how comprehensive it is.

So the next debate of course is: what the flip do I wear?!?! I feel very conflicted- as both a Gemini and a blogger I feel I have this split personality with my clothing as to which side I want to embrace on any given day. Sooooooo……in mind of that I’ve picked out two looks to choose between

Look 1- Curious Alice at the Races
Dress ASOS/ Bag New Look/ Shoes Ego

This is my ‘blogger’ look- the dress is a flattering cut and appropriately covered up, but this fabulous holographic print makes it a beautiful quirky standout piece. Because of the changing shades in the material I picked different shades of pink in the accessories to highlight both and still tone in, I kept them the same colour as it felt like it would be too busy if there was yet another colour in the mix. No hat of any description; firstly because it may make the look feel too busy as well, but secondly, where on Earth would I find one that would go?!?!

Look 2 – JennyChat at the Races

Dress Jones & Jones at Lipsy/ Bag ASOS / Shoes New Look

This look embraces more of the super girly Jenny- I adore skate style dresses as they flatter my shape a lot better, this netted skirt is ridiculously cute but not OTT and this gorge lace detailing makes it feel really beautiful and demure for a formal event. I toyed with the idea of going for powder blue accessories but I stuck with black as I wanted the shade to be a perfect match to keep focu on the dress. The covered in heels will also keep my feet warm if it’s a little chilly! Again no hay with this, I think a fabulous up do would be the perfect option here.

No race day outfit should go ahead with these babies

they still your beautiful heels sticking in the mud and getting ruined…you ca get them from Amazon and they come in all sorts of sizes. Mud is not glamorous!

Make sure you check out us glamorous ladies on race day (10 September) here

Hope you like my looks, which side do you think I should embrace?

  • FASHION & LIFESTYLE/ Say Whaaaat….?? Taking Back Control

Right now I feel fortunate in my life; I have a lot of great things happening and great people around me, and for these things I’m very grateful. But for me it always seems as if something goes a little bit wrong when the majority goes right, and obviously THAT’S the thing my mind zeros in on.

Right now, the thing that’s going wrong for me is my weight and how I feel about my body. I’ve had serious issues and battles over the years, which this pic will put into context for you

And this is closer to how I look now , hoping you can see a difference! I must stress at this point:

1- Everyone has their own ideals about what looks good on them/to them with regards to their size and shape, what I’m expressing are concerns about my personal ideals. I have every right to feel how I feel regardless of how other people may see me.

2- It doesn’t matter how other people see you and how many people tell you however many positive things about your appearance…if YOU don’t feel it inside, it kind of falls on deaf ears.

3- Losing weight for me has not been an easy process, it took me a loooooong time (a little of 3yrs to be exact) to get my head properly in the game to make real life changes in order to get to a place where I was more comfortable

4- The right clothes and fabric can conceal things a lot better than you might think!

I genuinely thought I had this thing licked – I could eat really well, know I’d feel good doing so and enjoy what I was having. I embraced regular gentle cardio (an extended walk every day to a retail park near my house)  and didn’t feel the need to have any hugely indulgent treats very often.

What I’ve learnt since reaching my target weight back in December 2012 is that I can still be weak willed….VERY weak actually, on occasions. This year I’ve been too naughty too often and as a result it’s making me feel sluggish and bloated. I often dont like a lot of the pictures when I’m shooting a blog post, and when I sit down I see bits sticking out I just don’t like.

I know that whinging about it won’t change anything. However, I also know that I can do something about it. I can kick myself back up the bum and get back on track- looking better and feeling better than ever before…so that’s what I’m going to do!

Thanks for taking the time to read whilst I share my inner thoughts, more will be on the way soon. Anything that pops into my head, it may just make its way onto here.

  • FASHION/ “World, I’ve Arrived…”

The other day, this tweet from the bangers-obsessed fashpirational Gok Wan popped up on my feed

This sums me up so well! Every single day I think – How do I feel? How do I want to feel? What I can wear to reflect the latter to the outside world to make me feel good? It’s not as complicated a process as I make it sound!

So with this is mind…I decided that I was feeling warm and summery, and I wanted to feel/ appear sassy yet casual to the world at large. For me this meant ripped skinnies (doesn’t it always?) lace ups and some HAWT ass shades

       Photos by my girl beckieione

So for the summer I’ve replaced my shoe boots…with lace up shoe boots! Haha. Just as comfy but a bit more open for ventilation. This caged bodysuit is my sassy compromise – I REALLY want a fab lace up one, but of the four I’ve tried, my braless boobies are make it feel less fierce and more ‘to be feared’ cringe…

So glad I’m on the Quay Australia bandwagon, I’m totally obsessed with these sunnies! And because I bought them from a stockist (they’re sold by ASOS and Top Shop) I managed to use my student discount whilst it was still valid. Yay.

Bodysuit – Boohoo (sold out, similar here)/ Jeans- Top Shop (sold out in khaki, other colours here)/ Shoe Boots – Public Desire/ Sunnies – Quay Australia at Top Shop

    Thanks for reading

  • FASHION/ Vegas Wishlist

So I’m going on holiday to Las Vegas soon, fairly sure I may have mentioned that…about 20 times in every post for the few weeks…sorry for the overkill but I’m ridiculously excited that I finally get to go after many years of wanting to! I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect wardrobe for what feels like FOREVER and I’m almost there, but these are some extra little bits that I feel would finish my suitcase to perfection…

I’ve opted for a fairly small palette of colours to make it super easy to put everything together (I also have some pinks, camels and greys packed too) I haven’t picked up the card clutch bag yet because I wasn’t sure if it was too cheesy? I’m relying on your comments to tell me! I also thought it was a good ide to take an all white look, just in case I FINALLY convince Mr Alice that it would cute to renew our vows whilst we’re in the wedding capital of the World (part of the reason we’re going is to celebrate 5yrs of marriage) feel free to leave comments for him in support of my plea!

Black Floral Coord AX Paris/ House of Cards Box Clutch LA Sula/ Rinestone Headband Cherry Diva/ White Bardot Top Boohoo/ Backless White Jumpsuit Miss Foxy/ Nude V Front Shift Dress Missy Empire/ Cut Out Swimsuit Missguided/ Beige Cage Lace Ups Ego

What else would you pack? Feel free to also leave me any ideas about what else we should be doing in Vegas, we have lots of ideas but the more the merrier.

  • FASHION/ Weekly Style Round Up

its been such a good week for #celebstyle every day I feel like I’ve let out a little “ooooooooohhhhhhhh” when I’ve opened the paper/Instagram/Twitter and seen someone rocking a great look…I had to narrow down A LOT

There aren’t enough fire emojis in the world to express my thoughts on J-Lo’s black dress look….I mean really…age aside, everyone I’ve spoken to can only describe it as “daaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmn” (If we saw a girl in our own city/town wearing a tight dress and no underwear I bet we’d think something totally different! Probably because it wouldn’t look like this) miraculously, I’ve managed to find a similar-ish dress that’s more wearable in real life (with underwear) courtesy of Boohoo.

The other two looks mind if make me think it could all be in the name. They’re very much ‘Jenny’ looks rather than J-Lo boom boom POW, and I kind of (try really hard) to do the same- when I’m chilling behind I’m Jenny, when I’m out and about I’m very much in Curious Alice mode (I can almost feel those of you who know me chuckling to yourselves as you read this) If only the result was just as amaze eh…dare to dream…anyway….this is such a fab idea for a coord, a cute pair of shorts for the boat partay and a ladylike midi skirt for dinner on the dock. This two piece by Boohoo hits the second vibe really well, add in this fierce lil Public Desire turquoise beauties and you can channel yo’ inner Lopez all day and all night loooooooooong.

Both of Cheryl’s looks feel a little cold weather (which to be fair, it kind of has been) because of their dark palettes, but they’re fabulous and it just means we can play in them til the end of the year! I’m soooooo into her hair right now; I need to learn how to make mine look that effortless cool at all times.

I really like this Missy Empire waistcoat to recreate the look on the right, short sleeves (or nothing at all) underneath would make it feel it little more summer-ey for August, and these Ego black thigh highs will make you want to embrace your inner Chezza soldier. Awesome.

Jessie J’s outfit is an unusual mix of Japanese calmness and straight up feisty…I’m totally into it! I can’t see her bag properly but the rest of her outfit is high street fash – the dress is by Top Ship but sold out, luckily ASOS do a really similar one, and these caged heels are in full stock as I type over at Missguided.

Danni’s style is ideal for the weird weather we’ve had lately- the colour palette is lovely and light for summer whilst the jacket is great to cover up when the chill comes. FYI: this is a long sleeve version of the one I’m currently obsessed with (see here and here if you haven’t seen or have forgotten) so you could wear it as a top/dress as well an make it a huuuuuge value for money purchase. This style/colour can be picked up at In the Style and there are jeans like Danni’s available at Miss Pap.

I know I just said Chezza wearing dark colours felt autumnal but all black just isn’t the same, it’s for all seasons baybeee! Haha. I’m so pashing on Miss Meck’s skater dress, it’s all kind of classy and a little cheeky with those sheer panels. I’m heading to the races in a few weeks and I need it baaaaaad! She’s repping it from her own boutique which is now sold out (sob) however you can get the same deign with a pencil fit skirt from ASOS.

And so we move from ladylike to sheer frickin’ cool…yes Jenner girls, YES. I’m definitely stealing Kylie’s look for my Vegas trip. You can pick up a similar Top and Palazzo Pants (which I already own and was poised to pack before I saw this) from Miss Foxy.

Kendall’s supermodel style is NAILED in this look; black and showing off her insane figure. Grab a similarly sassy sheer bomber from Missy Empire, super skinny trousers from Pretty Little Thing and fierce gold stilettos by New Look.

Hope you enjoyed this week’s celeb looks, don’t forget to also check out my dark florals style post here. Next week will be a holiday related post and perhaps a new regular feature…be curious and check them out!
