FASHION/ Weekly Style Round Up
Happy Sunday to you all! For those of you in the UK today is #FathersDay but for me there’s something way more exciting….ITS MY BIRTHDAY!! Yup, I was born on the longest day of the year aka the Summer #Solstice. It’s also #PrinceWilliam ‘s birthday today (but he’s a year older than I am) so happly birthday to him as well. It’s not a landmark birthday but I’m still hoping for a few presents, yummy food and some fun with Mr Alice! Stay tuned to my social media accounts (find links to them here) for what I get up to, I’m sure there’ll also be some related posts next week. Like a fine wine I’m totally getting better with age…hehe
Anyway, on with the style…
Black ‘n White Fabulous
You’ll know from previous #celebstyle posts that monochrome (and stripes in particular lately) are my fave! There’s some great pieces out there right now but Rochelle’s is the first I’ve seen that’s a less casual non-trouser look. It’s a great summer look, completed by her monochrome clad hubby! I’m always trying to instill the virtues of cohesive couples outfits to Mr Alice (he remains unconvinced but mostly goes with it for a quiet life). This dress is by Spotted in Celeb and would completely gorgeous for a cool night out as well as her super chic daytime style.Lucy’s quirky mesh shoes are from Office and add enough interest to her ultra sleek sexy black suit without going OTT. Her understated POW is what stands out, it’s not a look we normally see in her but I’m totally digging it. Top marks for that popping red lip as well, one of my other all time faves.
Danielle’s look is so simple but so chic, I’ve always thought black and white pared together properly looks so glam. This lovely waistcoat she’s wearing is literally THE best bargain you can buy this summer courtesy of In The Style. I’m actually wearing this in khaki today weather permitting (I think it comes in 3 colours) but in a totally different way which I’ll share with you soon. I think I may also need to snap up the black version immediately though!
I like it when Cara steps away from her usual super-cas funky look and does something a bit more polished – this outfit is almost like a modern day quirky VB for me, the brogues stay true to her funked up self even when she’s rocking a frock. If anyone caught her appearance on the Graham Norton show earlier this week that outfit was a total triumph – slashed leather treggings. Adore!
Wearing Blue, Feeling Anything But
Some cool mega babes working that casual vibe….so much so that Daisy emblazoned that on her chest for all to see! I’m such a fan of cas-ing up a pencil skirt with a tee, though I’m a little short to pull off the converse with this length (maybe switching it out for more of a mini?). Create your own slogan tee with my fave Rock on Ruby and let the world know how mega you are!
Ripped skinnies and a sleeveless duster – so easy, so fab, so me. It’s a style we can all do (and one I do quite a bit). I also found out this week that Kyles and I share a mutual appreciation for Cocoa Brown Tan – I did it first! You can remind yourselves of my CB my tanning exploits here. My fave denim for this look are the Top Shop Jamie Jeans (I wouldn’t be surprised if they weren’t an exact match to Kyle’s either) and there’s a really similar maxi duster available from Missguided who her pal Pia Mia (pictured) has just collaborated with. Embrace the easy chic.
Two of my fave boho girls working it in…well, boho! Vanessa’s shirt is a great little nod (though the shoes can’t be comfortable in the NYC heat without socks) but I’d go full on hippy in this print tunic dress by Miss Pap. The cute lace detail is also hitting that extra trend too. Perrie’s jumpsuit are also hitting a few marks – denim, dungarees and 70s. You can get her exact look from ASOS, I bet it would look awesome styled for the evening too.
And the ‘Too Glam to Give A Daaaaaaamn’ Award goes to…
Yay Kenny! She’s killing it all over the world right now. I’ve seen a slightly more relaxed red maxi by Nostalgia for In the Style (that could easily be daytime glam too) teamed with this fierce court shoes from my current obsession Public Desire.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s looks, let me know what you think. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

FASHION/ Let’s Play
I’m not normally a huge playsuit fan, I’m always worried about the fit around the body and the shorts being too short on me. However I found this one that’s a similar style to a wrap dress I own (you probably know the one) so I thought I’d try pushing myself by trying it (having tried one on holiday last year, which seemed less scary).
*disclaimer- no matter how good the photographer, sadly they can’t do anything about my questionable facial expressions!*

As its a daytime look I thought dressing it down with #Converse would be good even though the shoulder detail makes it feel a more glam. I never intended to buy them; I tried them on a whim when looking for a different pair of and the shop assistant innocently said “they’re like mermaid shoes” SOLD! They are pretty special for a daytime shoe. You probably can’t see, but I’m also sporting my Ombre lip colour as featured in my last post (refresh you memories here) The lighter colour is a near perfect match to the playsuit.
Playsuit- ILWF at Top Shop/ Pumps- Converse at Schuh (sold out in this colour online, gold version here
If I was wearing this as an evening look I’d switch out the shoes for my other favourite mermaid numbers courtesy of Missguided as featured in my Let’s Disco post last month.
How would you style this playsuit?

BEAUTY/ Ombré Lips
I very rarely do beauty posts and there’s a pretty simple explanation for why that is – I’m a teeny bit rubbish with makeup! So I thought I’d try to get a bit better, starting with my lips. I like ombré hair and a colour pop lip so I thought trying out an ombré lip would be a good place to start.
Top Shop have just brought out an ombré lip range, so the colour pairing pairing is done for you already. And, with a name like Curious, I was always going to get this one! I like that the packaging is simple and fashiony as we’ve come to know #Topshop for, yet the subtle black polka dots keep it that little bit girly and fun.
I wouldn’t have ever considered the lighter shade as a lip colour before, but the darker is a bit more maroon in real life and that’s a colour I wore most of winter so thought that gave me a bit of ‘safety’ whilst I was pushing my boundary with the style.
Application
I ALWAYS prep my lips before applying lippy- I brush them with a dry toothbrush to get rid of any dry skin and get the blood flowing to make the colour look it’s best when applied.
I applied the lighter shade in the middle first with my finger. I applied the darker outer colour with using a Nanshy bent eyeliner make up brush because it gave a more precise line which I needed. The to blend the two together (using a combo of my index finger and a cotton bud) to get the overall effect.
End Result
It’s obviously still a work in progress and I’ll be playing with the look a lot over the next few weeks I suspect, but I like the colours together and I think they make a great summer lip.For this post I used Top Shop’s Lip Ombre in curious, the other three colours in the range (see here) are equally as fab for the summer months, once I’ve mastered this next on my list will be the gorgeous reddy orange colours in the Perplex palette.
What are your top tips for getting a great Ombre lip, do you have any other colours/brands for me to try?

It’s my Birthday next week, yay! I don’t care what people say – I always look forward to mine no matter how old I get…well, so far at least. As well as cake (obviously!) I like getting presents rather than money, especially if it’s things I’ve wanted for a while. It’s also nice to have something new to wear for my birthday itself – Mr Alice is treating me to a day of shopping and food, perfect.
My list is inspired by my upcoming summer – nights out, blogger events and my holiday to Las Vegas. I need to make sure my fashion game is brought! If you see anything else that I should add to my list feel free to comment below.

FASHION/ Sass in Hull City – Being Carrie Bradshaw
I adore me some CB! I think she is quite possibly the first woman I’d class as a ‘style muse’ from when I first watched Sex and The City at 17/18…but it’s only now that I fully appreciate how important her fashion message really is- try everything, be brave, strut proudly. That may very well have to be my sub slogan now after ‘Fashion. Food. Fun. What Else?’.When I saw this dress it reminded me of this Carrie look which is one of my faves. So of course, it had to be mine! It’s not her most out there look but it is Oscar de la Renta and Pink and a true classic which I adore. Carrie dances around New York City in it which is filled with culture, I however rocked this look on the streets of Hull, which has the bona fide title as City of Culture 2017.

One of the best things about shooting this look was being with three of the other #HullBloggers as we became our own little ‘Sass n the City’ group for the afternoon – I as a brunette Carrie (of course) redhead Charley as a rock chick Miranda, Heather as sweetie Charlotte and blondie Beckie as our stylish Samantha.

Gotta be honest though – we’re a little more Primarni and Diet Coke than Manolos and Cosmos in the middle of the day in these parts!
Which SATC character are you most like, and which of their looks would you dare to wear? Make sure you tag me on #Twitter or #Instagram with your sassy styles!
