Happy #MothersDay to all of those special people in the world filling that role and beyond to us kids!
I usually spend a bit of the day with my mum and nan, the two ladies responsible for making me who I am today..take that as you will! hehe. The only time this hasn’t happened was last year, when my mum was so hungover she told me “don’t bother” who does that?!?!
I don’t go nuts on gifts because my mum has her birthday a couple of weeks before and is never that forthcoming about what I should get her. However this year she told me exactly what she wanted – a framed picture of this selfie we did at #LFW . You wish is my command Mama Alice!
I got this gorgeous print courtesy of Frame Again (friends of the #HullBloggers). I picked a simple monochrome frame to match the picture and to make it kinda ‘fashiony’ but their frames can be anything from cool to quirky as you pick whatever colour combos you like! Get yours here https://frameagain.com
We were also made into our very own Frame Again ad (which you may have spotted on my social media) how fab!
Tulips are so beautifully spring and bright and that’s why it feels like the best choice to bring a smile today
For the last few years it’s been a tradition that I bake, mainly because it still amuses my family that I’m now domestic after years of never doing a food shop and living via a microwave and the takeaway! My speciality are fat rascals but I thought I’d try something new, so these are cranberry and vanilla. They came out yummy but a little small.
The family the pouts together (albeit terribly) stays together right
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday whatever you’re doing, my Weekly Style Round Up will be back shortly.
My first proper post with my #newhair! My very wind swept hair as you can probably see, but now I can’t tie it back. I’ve had this #jumpsuit for a little while and and I think it’s a gorgeous colour and shape to wear well into the summer
Shades of Grey
Shades of Grey
Shades of Grey
Couple of things about these pics:
1- I did iron this before wearing it. Clearly I’m rubbish.
2- My lip colour is actually red (Kate for Rimmel 01 red nose red, to be exact) so I don’t know how it ended up looking so dark. Kinda like it though!
I was going to add my new coat and a quirky necklace so that they were more shades of grey to give it more depth, and whilst that did look gorge I wanted to keep the look really simple and just about the jumpsuit.
Rather than think “New Year, New Look” everybody’s waited until March to make a hair change. These are the styles that have peaked my interest
After seeing these girls change it up I started thinking….I’ve enjoyed having my blonde dip dye soooo much, but after 15 months (possibly the longest in my adult life I’ve ever kept a hairstyle) I decided it may be time to try something new.
BEFORE
PHASE 1 – Cut
I had my hair chopped at Colour Lounge (http://www.colour-lounge.co.uk) by a girl who had the most lustworthy hair I’ve ever seen this side of Tumblr! Sigh… I originally wanted it just above my shoulders a la Kim K, but that’s not how it ended up…I’ve bypassed the lob and gone full ooooon bob!
Phase 2 and 3 – Base Colour and ‘Colour’ Colour
Sadly colour for me is a necessity rather than a luxury because…well because I’m old and you’ll see my grey hair if I don’t get on it! These are my weapons of choice
I’ve used this Superdrug own brand colour for years (even before my broke ass student days) it’s great value and the colour is a perfect match to my natural colour. I used the Loreal Wild Ombre for my previous blonde, and seeing the new red shade made me feel a bit naughty and impulsive! Little hint- even if you’re a home dye pro I’d get help applying this and have an old sheet/massive old towel, you need that second pair of eyes to watch for the colour dripping on your skin and over the surfaces (I say this with red fingernails/neck and a now dodgy looking stain on my bathroom floor!). I applied them on the same day, one after the other. I kept the brown to just where the darker part of my hair is in phase 1 so that I wasn’t overwhelming my hair with extra colour when applying the red.
AFTER
Ta da!
(FYI- im wearing an off the shoulder jumpsuit, I’m not topless!)
So this is my new look. I’m not quite sure how I feel about it yet (hence the non smiling face), I think I still need to get used to it and work out styling etc. It’s been such a long time since I had short hair. Feel free to share your styling and product tips with me so I can make my do look fab!
sorry for the silence this week, it’s been sooooo windy I haven’t been able to shoot any outfits! Fingers crossed for the week ahead. Anyway, onto the ‘slebs….
Paris Fashion Week has been a total triumph, both on and off the catwalk. I like how the looks change between each of the cities, and when in France zees girls brought a leetle je ne said quois! Solange, ever the game changer, in all red Errrthang when the rest of us are still figuring it out and black or white. It’s comfy, chic and stylish all in one, how fab. Dakota looks classicly Paris chic and completely beautiful, that jumpsuit is a great fit. This ILWF version is a really similar shape at the top, but the wide leg bottom make it cool going into summer and nodding in that 70s trend direction http://www.inlovewithfashion.com/products/LOVE-Black-Cold-Shoulder-Jumpsuit.html And then we come to the Balmain Army. I can’t cope with how insanely good these models of the moment look! The colours, textures and shapes all en pointe. Wiping the drool off the keyboard as I type.
Think Pink
As if Rebecca Ferguson had a baby 5 months ago and looks THIS amazing?!?! Her hair is fabulous too! Need her food and beauty secrets stat. This is such a normal outfit for Nikki but just as eye catching in the neon with this unique pront over the top. She should totally do this kind of look more often!
Funky Mummies
Some days I can’t even manage myself so I’m always in admiration of jig mamas who can pull theirselves as well as little people together. I like Fearne’s cheeky colour pop boots and Mylene’s print trench (from her own collection, of which I can’t get the link to load to the post!)
Regular Kardash/Jenner Crushin’
So firstly – Kim’s hair. She’s changed hers twice in 2015 and I’m just thinking about if should change mine a little. I adore the length as it still has a great shape, and with this kind of movement (not that slicked back look everybody’s compared to th Harry Potter kid) I do really like the blonde. It’s so striking against her skin and really out there and fashion forward which is what she’s going for. I’d say that was job done! I adore her outfits in both pics too, Balmain and Lanvin respectively. Tres Bin Madame West. Kendall and Kylie have great street style, I think both these looks can be taken day to night with very little tweaking yet are so simple and cool. What more is there to say!
I’d really like to hear your thoughts on which looks you like so feel free to leave me a comment or tweet me @IamJennyChat
