FASHION / Same old brand new me?

Top, Topshop / Trousers, ASOS / Shoes, Misguided

I would normally post a better quality of picture than this as part of a blog post these days, however I wanted to use this one because it captured a very are and fleeting moment where I felt a little more like my old self, so I felt it was a moment worth sharing.

I wore this outfit on my last night out of 2018 and it kind of reminded me of the stuff I used to wear in my slimmer days, which me think I may be starting to turn a corner in this whole self loathing thang I’ve had going on for the last couple of years.

A high waist and a high neckline are my sweet spot for making me feel comfortable and looking flattering, as this experiment was successful I may bring this combo out again more often!

What are your favourite clothing combos that make you feel good?

FASHION/ Balmain…ish

All hail the great British high street and our fabulous northern e-trailers, who help us get designer looks for less!

As you may have guessed, my outfit is inspired by #Balmain but most definitely wasn’t purchased from there…sadly I can’t quite afford to drop £1300 on one of their classic blazers or a couple of hundred on the Balmain x H&M rope heels (which I think may be sold out now). However I’m very happy with my PLT dupes and their prices, which meant I could also afford to get the jacket in white too. You’ll be seeing that pretty soon…The jacket material is pretty thick and feels good to wear. For anyone with bigger boobs, I’d recommend sizing up so that it sits a little better (something I did with the white version after wearing this one). I wore this look on my wedding anniversary with pleather trousers similar to how PLT styled it on their site, which looks sassy AF.I’m not as good in heels as I used to be – these are 5ins which is above my ‘safe limit’ and I look a bit awkward trying to walk in them down the cobbled streets of Hull’s Old Town! Definitely a sit down shoe for me

FASHION/ A Little Khaki Never Hurt Nobody….

The light has been so random for picture taking this month! These shots were taken during a Sunday afternoon stroll with Mr Alice and sun was a bit cray…it’s nice to see it though, who else isn’t loving going to/from work in the dark?!?!

I enjoyed the chance to FINALLY wear my gazelle’s out of the house- since I got them it’s been raining every time there worked with a casual outfit. This is actually a double denim outfit too; the shirt is thick denim and the bottoms are my fave Top Shop Joni jeans with a coating on. January is a tricky time for dressing up as I feel a little bit bigger than I’d like to be and don’t have too many plans that require looking all fancy pants for a while, so this is the sort of outfit I feel at home in for now

I’ve had this bomber jacket for months and wear it all the time, but don’t think I’ve ever actually styled it into a post, so here it is! I definitely feel like I’ve developed a bigger obsession for coats/jackets, footwear and sunnies over the last 12 months…even if it’s the same pair in 4 different colours! Little note re the jeans – unlike the rest of the Joni range, mothers are more of a 7/8 length so ankle boots are probably not the best look with these.

FASHION/ Last Minute Christmas Shopping

My LAST pre-Christmas outfit post! There’ll be plenty of pictures taken over the festive days of my outfits and shared I’m share, so keep a lookout for those. This is another of my winter go-to looks for a quick journey into town to pick up some final little bits of presents (I’ve actually been super organised this year, but there’s always that last little thing you forget isn’t there)

These jeans are more of a Capri length, but the way, which is why they don’t tuck into my boots. I realised after buying them that this is about the 15th pair I’ve purchased in the last year- quite the change for a girl who refused to wear them for about 5 years because she felt too ashamed of how she looked in them!

FASHION/ Candid in all black at Malmaison

Thought I’d post my first ‘festive’ #OOTN of the year – by festive, I mean it’s December and I’m standing by a tree, clearly my outfit isn’t quite in that category!

This was a night out in Liverpool, one of my fave UK cities, taken by the tree at Malmaison. As festive as it wasn’t, my outfit was warm(ish) against the chilly Mersey breeze as well as combining different textures and pattern to break up the black. These are the shoes I SHOULD have worn to my graduation too (still a slight sore point)btw, very easy to walk in.

FASHION/ Dungarees ‘n Roll Necks

Happy #BlackFriday everyone, I’ve been poorly so have been up since 3am having a cheeky online shop! Hope you get some great bargains in the sales- buy what you need (or have wanted for ages if it’s on sale) don’t go nuts and be careful if you’re hitting shops in person please!

This is what I wore when I went to see Alan Carr’s latest tour last week* I’ve enjoyed trying out dungarees soooo much! I feel really comfy AND stylish when I wear these which is the fashion Holy Grail in my opinion.

*Just a little aside- I met Alan after the gig – he stroked my new Top Shop faux leopard jacket and said he liked it.
The strap slip was a genuine mistake, but I like it! Very 00’s Nicole Ritchie in The Simple Life (I totally know that some of you may need to google this and this reference shows my age soooo badly!)
Totally crushing on these heels since I wore them to #LadbrokesLadiesDay a couple of months ago (you can see what I wore them with here, it’s a VERY different look)  I really like that the legs are slim fit with the top half being looser because it lets me play around with the silhouette without making me look massive which is really nice. Wearing a fitted top underneath, especially a style that’s kind of my ‘go to’ style makes it feel more me and brings the top proportions back to being more fitted. Plus, the fact that they’re cord means I’ve been really stroke able when wearing them…nice ‘touch’ for Mr Alice methinks. Hehe.

Has anybody else tried dungarees this season? I want to see how you’re wearing them if so so don’t forget to share you pics and posts!

FASHION/ Aint Nuthin’ but a Clueless fangirl

You’ve probably seen me state this a hundred times, but it’s true – I’m a HUGE fan of the 90s chick flick Clueless. Cher Horowitz and her pals will forever be some of my fave fashion icons of all time. Me and my boy about town pal LDW always argue over who gets  to be Cher; as he’s Jewish (as she is) and has waaaay fancier clothes than me he usually wins, so Dion it is! However this is probably a little more casual than the Beverley Hills gals would ever rock, but it’s my Curious Alice take on their look.
Lots of texture going on – the skirt is thick wool (and high waisted, which you may not be able to see) the jumper is THE softest thing I think I’ve ever touched in my life. I kind of wish they’d have had a class of 1983 though, which is my birth year, but there is a Brooklyn pizza sweatshirt so they may be forgieven…the jumper is kind half tucked in as I wanted that relaxed kind of vibe rather than a full on fitted look, but I’ll definitely be using the high waist to create a look like that soon.

The boots are an awesome mix of comfy yet sassy (adore that word right now, apologise for the over use) and they’ve had a lot of compliments around the office already

Does anyone else channel their inner Clueless, or is it just me? Let me know!

You may have read a post I did a couple of weeks ago about some serious outfit judgement I experienced on the streets of my home town (if you didn’t catch it, you can see it here) well, I thought I’d share the look that caused such a big fuss!          Trying my hand at this ‘fish eyes’ thing….nope, not convinced…

Fine right? Nothing vulgar on show, weather appropriate, no (well, not too much) overhang….some people are just plain strange! I’m still getting used to these jeans not being high waisted and keep trying to pull them up. Definitely liking the more exaggerate rips around the knee so there’s no awkward marks after you’ve been sitting down a while, even if it does mean you can see how odd my knees look when I bend my legs back. Ah well!

FASHION/ Autumn Sass

The UK weather is so confusing right now – is it warm? Is it cold? Will it be warm THEN cold?!?! It’s all made me pretty ready to start embracing some chillier weather clothes, starting with my trusty thigh high boots. I used them as a base in this #ootd to go for a kind of retro vibe, which I wore to work last week.

The top isn’t as see through away from the camera, promise! With the skirt being a mini a went a size up so it would sit a bit lower, DEFINITELY glad I did as there was a slightly dicey moment when I sat down at my desk….oops…I’m definitely going to carry on my oxblood red obsession for A/W I think, the other day I did an online shop that consisted only of that colour which I’m sure I’ll be sharing soon.

FASHION/ Weekly Style Round Up

Happy Sunday to you all, I hope the weather is a little better wherever you are than it is in Hull today! And to think – this time last year I was relaxing in swimwear outside listening to a wedding singer…not as weird as it sounds!

This week is going to be celeb style and how to get the look – a little like the ‘We All Need Good Jeans’ post a few weeks back (See it Here)

Emma Bunton
Mel looks fab too, but Em wins my heart because it’s a refresh on animal print and she’s looking a bit tropical for her Marrakech trip to celebrate a certain someone’s #DB40 …..

Steal Emma’s Style

I switched the biker to a sleeveless version at the shoe to these sexy lil mesh booties – if you’re going to the sun, you wanna look hot but stay cool!

Trousers- *exact match* Moschino Cheap n Chic at Farfetch

Biker Gilet- Top Shop

Booties- Public Desire

Gemma Atkinson

Gemma is working this dress at an awards event, but it would look sooooo gorge at an end of year ball or #wedding too. Best thing is that it’s by one of my favourite #occasion wear brands

Get Gemma’s Glam ‘oooooon

As you can’t really see Gem’s #shoes I just picked a pair that I liked – simple yet in keeping with #summer style. After all, people may see them when you’re carrying them home at the end of a fab night!

Dress- *exact match* Honor Gold

Shoes- AX Paris

Bag- River Island

Kim Kardashian West

I’ve been completely drawn to all #black looks when the sun’s been out lately and this particular version is just too glam to give a damn whilst being completely simple. Perfect.

Be Klassy like Kim

This #dress is an almost exact style match, except it’s a #maxi so it’ll give the look a little more of a 70s feel which is a fab look for S/S. The studs in the shoes just add a little bit of interest when they leak at as you strut. Kim’s wearing a low pony but I though a high wrap version wold work well too, luckily my girl Popey has a fab range for those of us with shorter locks

Dress- Abbey Clancy for Matalan

Hair- Syn Snap Ponytail by Hair Rehab London

Shoes- Missguided

Amber Rose

It’s very rare that I like what Amber wears, but I guess by the laws of average it had to happen sometime! Such an easy and fierce look to create

Be an Amber gambler in Khaki

My version is kinda mish mash but still cool! The waistcoat it maxi as its bang on trend (and the belt can make it a more flattering silhouette) the shoes are more funky with the cage and print detailing.

Dress- Pretty Little Thing

Waistcoat- Pretty Little Thing

Shoes- Missguided

Sunnies- Missguided

What do you think of these looks, what would you wear/ change?
