BLOGMAS day 11: Mini pre-Christmas beauty haul
There was a sale on and I decided I deserved a treat as I’ve just landed a brand new job for 2018 (yay!) so I decided to pick up a three makeup ‘hero’ products to help create some festive glam looks.Urban Decay Naked 2 eyeshadow palette

This is my fourth Naked purchase – I have Naked (use often, hitting pan in some shades), Naked Heat (obvs, it’s my fave!) and Naked Ultimate Basics (not particularly impressed, the colour payoff isn’t as good as the main collection). The colours in this version don’t feel like a cohesive collection like the others do, but I’m very impressed what’s in there so far as they have the same great pigmentation that the main ‘Nakeds’ all have. I think my fave shade so far is Chopper, which is shimmery light copper.
Urban Decay Eden eyeshadow primer potion

I bought this on the back of using the Original version since the summer and being really impressed; the consistency is a lot smoother and almost a bit tacky which seems to hold my shadow in place well without creasing (something that was a major problem for me). This one is a little more luminous so I’m hoping it’ll add to my makeup looks during the party season.
I bought Velvet Teddy (cliche much) at the beginning of year and quite like it so thought I’d invest in another cult fave. I used to do a red lip ALL the time but haven’t for ages and I miss it! It applies pretty nicely and creates the POW factor I was hoping for.MAC Pigment in Blue Brown

One of work colleagues wears this and always looks lovely so I was keen to try it out myself. The brown tones are the perfect neutral shade with a flash of a lighter ‘mermaid-ey’ blue which is unexpected but looks awesome.Think I’m set for my festive makeup looks now!

BLOGMAS day 10: Thor’s Tipi
Note- my photography skills are improving, but apparently I haven’t mastered how to capture bright lights in the dark!
If you’re not quite in the festive spirit yet, a visit to Thor’s Tipi will get you there.
If you haven’t heard of it, this is a chain of pop up Viking-inspired bars that have really simple concept – pretty lights and festive tipples served around wooden benches and a cosy fire pit.
I’ve made two visits so far this month – I’m an absolute sucker for Mulled wine at this time of year and this is the perfect place to drink it (they also serve regular alcoholic drinks, soft and hot drinks). The hot chocolate also looks pretty darn good so further visits are definitely required…hehe.
This is great place to come for anyone at any time of day – pre/mid/post Christmas shopping pit stop, pre-drinks before a Christmas party or a nice alternative to popping out to the pub for a couple (I’m really lucky that the Hull Thor’s is only a 15 minute walk away from where I’m living at the moment so it’s practically my local).
I just wish their cups were a bit more festive inspired too!
Thor’s Hull is open until 31 December 2017 from 10am – 11pm (closed Christmas Day) so I may see some of you down there for a seasonal tipple. I’m looking forward to visiting the Leeds tipi very soon too.

BLOGMAS day 9: Home made hot chocolate (and the cutest festive mug to drink it in)

At this time of year I love making my own hot chocolate, which usually has a lil’ extra kick to it, so thought I’d share one of my favourite recipes. Really easy, pretty quick and very tasty!Spiked peanut butter hot chocolate:
50g milk chocolate
200ml milk
70mls Marks & Spencer Chocolate & Peanut cream liqueur
Marshmallows
Whipped cream
1. Place a small pan on medium heat and add the chocolate milk. Stir gently and continuously until the chocolate melts and the milk is a smooth brown colour.
2. Add in the liqueur and continue to stir until all the liquid looks blended together.
3. Drop in a few marshmallows and allow them to melt a little.
4. Remove from heat and serve in a cute AF mug. Decorate with whipped cream and a sprinkling of marshmallows.
Enjoy!
This recipe has a ‘make it up as you go along’ vibe so you can sub out ingredients to suit your own preference. My top swaps for this recipe are:
– Chocolate: using dark chocolate will add more depth of flavour, whereas white chocolate will make your drink creamier.
– Alcohol: dark rum, Irish cream and whisky all work well with chocolate. With dark chocolate you could even add a small amount of red wine (yes, really!)
– Decoration: for extra sass add a mini flake, chocolate sprinkles or edible glitter.

And of course, a super cute festive mug to serve your chosen creation in! I bought a pair of these from Primark for me and the Mr to use throughout December. If you have a good recipe of try out a variation of mine please do let me know in the comments!

BLOGMAS day 8: Subtle festive fashion touches

Myth buster- You don’t have to wear an outlandish outfit to prove you’re not a Grinch!Being festive is about finding your own holiday traditions that make you happy and excited, and I say it’s kinda nice to have a bit of festive wear tucked away under your trousers/boots that only you know about. Someone may catch a quick glimpse of them as you sit down and smile as your subtle festive secret is revealed, making them feel festive and happy too. It’s a great cycle to be in!
These patterns are both from Matalan and are available in store at around £1.75 per pair, but there are some of my other faves

Bah hum-pug, Dorothy Perkins / Santa, Dorothy Perkins / Oh Deer, ASDAIn the interest of full disclosure – I am also partial to a more full on festive look, which I may share later on in the month.

BLOGMAS day 7: Happy horror-days

Question 1: What Christmas card do you buy your horror-mad husband when you want to put in some thought and effort?Question 2: What Christmas card do you yourself when you’re a bit of a Scream junkie?
Answer: these ones by Emma Powell Design.
I’m not particularly into cards, but I spotted this Ghostface (the killer from the Scream films, just in case you didn’t know) print on my Twitter feed a few days ago and thought it was so awesome I had to buy it. While I was browsing I also came across the Jason Voorhees design and knew it was perfect for the Mr. The films from the Halloween series are some of of our go-tos for sticking on for an easy watch (yes, really) and he loves #christmas so it was a pretty personalised choice.
I don’t know how these scary, ugly ass killers have been made to look so darn adorable but Emma has nailed it, and I doubt this is the last purchase I’ll be making! They’re lovely quality and wil look lovely as wall art in our new home (if we ever find one, that is).
If you’re a horror fan, like a bit of quirkiness or a touch of satire, give Emma’s Etsy store a look.
And that’s week 1 of blogmas DONE!
