FASHION/ Studs and Unicorns
After a week of being ultra glam, Alice is ready to be a bit more casual and funkaaaaayy! For a little while anyway. I think one of my fave looks to wear out and about is a kind of girly yet edgy/casual kind of style (well at least that’s the plan!) so this outfit pretty much encompasses that for me. It’s been a twitch windy up here in the North East for the last few days so some of these pictures may look a little like I was trying to recreate some sort of rubbish J-Lo esque windswept glamour…dare to dream…
I’ve been quite vocal in the past about my adoration for a good slogan tee, and this one is a beaut! I almost named this post ‘B***h Please…’ after the slogan, but then I got worried about people searching for other things online that may end up at my blog! This tee is part of the Nostalgia range by Charlotte Crosby for In The Style – I actually got a bit spend-happy and bought a few pieces from the range (it’s all so good!) so I’m sure you’ll be seeing them in future posts. The sleeves are actually longer too but I rolled them up just to change it up a bit.
I’ve had this jacket for a couple of years and for me it’s proof that if you buy a good piece you can carry in wearing it to death (literally until it breaks, which is very nearly the case here!). I instantly liked it because it has an actual fitted shape which is really flattering, I’ve never seen another like it before, as well as these fierce fab-you-las spikey studs. It’s not ideal for wearing a jumper underneath so wear a less bulky top be brave as it gets chilly (you can easily wear a cool scarf and hat to keep you warm like I do though) be warned though, people will stroke your spikes…that’s right, I did indeed say stroke!
I switched out the shoes halfway through as I couldn’t decide which I preferred. The black stilettos are a timeless classic that bring the sexy and the feminine, I wouldn’t have normally considered the grey as the t-bar front almost makes them look a bit too girly for this look, however the funky block heel and the exact colour match to the skinnies made me re-think as they’re great for elongating/slimming down the legs (i need as much assistance as I can get in this department!)Slogan Tee- Nostalgia by In The Style (also comes in white) http://www.inthestyle.com/nostalgia-black-unicorn-slogan-tee/

FASHION/ Red Red Wine….with Little Bird Boutique
I’ve just heard on breakfast TV that it’s 69 days until Christmas…don’t shoot the messenger! Seasonal shopping is as much about getting a hot frock (or five, oopsie) for all the social engagements going on as it is about buying gifts for loved ones, and I know that I have a flurry of hen nights/weddings/nights out before December even arrives! That makes cost as much a factor as style, which makes this dress a fabulous option.

Photos by Tony Broomfield http://tonesart.vpweb.co.ukI’m a long time fan of this colour for A/W as it feels cosy yet luxurious to me. The material of the dress is soft and really comfy so is really easy to move in , everybody has a boogie at this time of year after a few sherries don’t they? You may recognise the bag as similar to one I blogged in September – it’s an identical print but a bigger version (which also comes with a handy shoulder chain if you don’t fancy carrying it) and it also comes in black and white (smaller version) which is perfect for my monochrome obsession! I added a subtle touch of bling with a sparkly ring, I didn’t want to add a necklace as it would’ve been too much with the statement bag and the lace bottom of the dress. The dress is also available in Navy too, one of my other fave seasonal colours, and as they’re super cheap you could even treat yourself to both colours…Santa says you’ve been a good girl this year, why not. Hehe.

FASHION/ Lovely in Lace…with Little Bird Boutique
Today my fave boutique is celebrating their grand relaunch, eek! So this week I’ll be guest posting some of their gorgeously glam looks.
The first is inspired by the hot fave of pretty much every guy (and girl) I know – Michelle Keegan. Lace is consistently a hot favourite for girls turning on the glamour, and this is one of my fave looks of hers. The lace arms keep it sexy by revealing hint of skin yet are quite demure (also covering parts of the arms that some prefer not to get out). The detailing across the front creates illusion panels which are awesome for enhancing/creating that illusive hourglass silhouette. See if you agree…

Photos by Tony Broomfield http://tonesart.vpweb.co.ukThis shoot proved to be quite the interest of passing cars outside – so much so that a couple missed the green light as they were being so nosey!
As flattering as the sleeves are, they’re a pretty tight fit! My advice would be to proceed gently yet firmly when pulling them on, I sized up but may need to have it tailored at the waist where it was a little loose. This is one of those designs that I think is timeless enough to have in your wardrobe for years to trot out for a wedding, general special occasion or Christmas party and feel just as glam each time you wear it (I have a couple of those hanging in my wardrobe) The bonus of the lace is that accessories aren’t really needed bar a sexy black heel and clutch (very similar to the Rochelle look I posted from Friday) it’s amazing to pay such a good price for a dress that does all the work for you!

FASHION/ Weekly Style Round Up
We’re at the end of another stylish (and in my case, a pretty hectic yet interesting) week! A lot of the celeb’s in the week’s round up have embraced a ‘simple is most effective’ mantra which isn’t a bad way to go, it’s certainly a super easy way for us mere mortals to be reminded that style can look great on varying budgets if worn well.
Off Duty
When I saw this pic of Sam I was wearing grey skinnies (to be blogged soon) and had just finished checking out this top online! Which you can buy from Sugar Hill Boutique here http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Sugarhill+Boutique+Party+Tiger+Top/208285737,default,pd.html?_$ja=tsid:51034%7Ccgn:8/btisdd0hQ&siteID=8_btisdd0hQ-FZB1be_lBYbgwpzr2IltNA Great minds eh 😚 I like the mustard colour pops to liven up the colour palette, I definitely want to try adding some of that to my wardrobe soon.
We’re all deep into 90s revival mode right? Yet I haven’t seen anybody bring it back like Caroline so far! This is a bit old skool Kate Moss, no? Seeing the CK logo reminds me of how obsessed everyone was with CK one (and pants in my case) and how excited I was to get a bottle from duty free in Gran Canaria aged 14…stop it Jen, they’ll work out you’re old! Oops 😳 I saw a similar furry leopard coat in Next whilst out shopping this week http://www.next.co.uk/g4010s3#674894g40 and (if you don’t have an original retro version) a similar top here http://www.zalando.co.uk/calvin-klein-jeans-themke-print-t-shirt-black-c1822d025-q11.html?gclid=CjwKEAjw14mhBRC0vdSNkI2l7CASJAC8OFS0frKxLvhC8TosquA7n4cb3G-juiwE3naaHxcotd5_exoCT-jw_wcB&size=L&wmc=SEM44_CR_EN_2103106.&opc=2211&ef_id=VCJx3AAAAXvc3hZr:20140924110244:s&wmc=AFF44_AW_EN.86032_..&awc=3356_1413059179_17842bb932703d9a46a49497c133a36b I’m not loving the shoes, but I figured her feet are wrecked from SCD and need a break so I’ll let this one slide. No, shimmy. Or maybe cha cha cha?
Speaking of 90s, our ultimate In Living Colour 90s gurl J-Lo has gone and done a bit of a game changer with this outfit! Very pared back, it kind of looks like she’s borrowed a guy’s jumper and shirt and kind of made it work for a walk of shame the morning after…if any normal woman looked like that then mornings would be soooo much less amusing! I like this look on her though – as different as it is, with those shoes and legs she’s still getting her Latina diva oooooonn!
Taylor’s outfit hits 3 of my all time faves – skater skirt, monochrome and tartan checks. ‘Nuff said I think!Thigh Again
Last week everyone was covering ’em up in boots, this week they’re flashing ’em Jolie style with some sexy split action! I’m a huge fan of TheWhitmore (her Twitter handle) huge fan of midnight blue, huge fan of toughening up a look with a biker jacket. YES!
Popey’s taken the tough edge a step further by adding in fierce cagey heels (you can find this similar pair at Matalan for a total bargain http://www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2578588?id=S2578588&color=C101 ) and khaki green skirt.
Millie is rocking one of my emerging fave trends ‘all black everything’ topped with uber chic fur (a similar one of which I purchased yesterday) what else would a cool fashionista/rappers wife wear, like, really? She’s getting in a bit of cheeky promo by rocking a maxi from her new range, which you can find here http://www.millie-mackintosh.com/index.php/seperates/37.html
Slits are fab but dangerously high on these looks – if you’re not brave enough, the high street have tamer versions (River Island are good) with single/double slits so you can still embrace the trend.Model Behaviour
This is THE perfect example of that ‘simple is most effective’ thing I mentioned earlier – throw a few simple pieces together and create a fabulous outfit! Sometimes I think that black and white can stand out more than any colour if done well, and these gurls do it WE-HELL indeed!
Let’s Hear it for Some Colour
Kelly’s new range (Stories by KO) is small but packs a punch, much like the lady herself! This is my fave dress – elegant style, bold colour and a nod to her GB roots without looking gaudy. Those of you in the USA can buy this in stores now, it’s not UK/Worldwide yet but thanks to modern technology everyone everywhere can shop this frock by clicking here http://www.hsn.com/ensemble/100075/100075
Even though Demi’s outfit seems quite ‘out there’ in shocking pink it’s pretty simple and elegant for her, she usually favours more quirky/edgy looks. This is something real women could re create and look just as great in. Gorge.
Reece’s dress by comparison is far less simple but just as gorge. This cut out floral pattern is a really nice alternative to lace and is elegant even though there’s a lot of skin showing when you think about it. Great call keeping the shoes completely pared back. Elle Woods would approve too methinks! 👌Next week my posts will celebrate the relaunch of Little Bird Boutique and show off some of their glam A/W frocks…I’m excited to play dress up in pretty things!

FASHION/ Inspired by….with Little Bird Boutique
Occasionally, the problem with being a curvy gurl is that you potentially feel as if you have no business emulating a celeb’s style that looks so different from you for fear of the “who do you think YOU are?” naysayers. I’ll be honest, with this look, that was me for a minute! But I’m old and wise enough to get that, even if an outfit is the same as someone in the public eye, I will inevitable wear it differently but can rock it just as well! In the immortal words of Ms Megan Trainor “it’s pretty clear I ain’t no size 2, but I can shake it shake it like I’m supposed to do”. Hells yeah!
Anyway moving on….my celeb inspired style is this gorgeous girly – Rochelle Humes. If ever a celeb seems to have her shiz together and does so looking pretty glam, it’s this lady!
I’m still a very firm fan of the bandage dress – yes, I do believe some of the styles are perhaps a little dated, but isn’t that true with any garment that’s been out there a while? In my opinion they’re like full body of magic pants that smooth everything out, what girl wouldn’t be happy about that? My version of Roch’s look is a little more toned down because I’ve opted for a subtler colour of the dress, and as I’m a lot shorter than her it’s also a little longer which is better for me. I’ve played with two different ways to style it – slightly tousled hair and shoe boots to try and give it a funky twist (which worked surprisingly better than I expected) and sleek locks with a demure pointed court to keep it classy. See what you think

Photos by Tony Broomfield http://tonesart.vpweb.co.uk/?prefix=wwwI purposefully ignored accessories as I felt like the top detail of the rest should be the point of interest. If I was adding in a bag I’d go for a simple black clutch, a shoulder bag may ruin the shoulder line.
