FASHION/ Misguided
I was inspired by my potential LFW outfit post on Monday, so thought I’d make it a cute ‘mini post’ thang! This time I’m focusing on the fabulously priced and Uber cool e-tailer that is Misguided. Their A/W stuff is sooo fab and will be denting my bank balance/straining my wardrobe rail shortly!
I went for this look to semi-channel Olivia Palermo from last week with the printed dress under the sleeveless blazer, except this look is a little more sexy with the lower neckline. The grey/white colours of the snake print make it look classy rather than trashy as some animal prints can, I’ve added a silver barely there sandal to keep it tonal and allow the dress to be the focus. The blazer is a good cover up for the unpredictable British weather yet super stylish and makes the dress more demure for daytime, finishing off the with the large black bag to carry all of your fash essentials. Got a party to head to after the show? Lose the blazer and swap the bag for a clutch. Done.

FASHION/ Pug Lovin’
This week the Mother Nature has proved she’s not quite ready to take back the sun just yet so I’m very much still in transitional mode. I’ve bought a winter coat (usually a task I leave until I’m literally freezing if I’m honest) but it’s still in its carrier bag on top of my wardrobe and I hope it’ll stay put for a little while yet!
As I’ve mentioned before I don’t really wear jeans as I can’t find any that fit properly, so this is the only pair that I own and wear. For anyone with big hips/booty like me you’ll need to size up, surprisingly the waist hasn’t gone baggy as it does with other brands which is why they’re still in my regular clothes rotation. The black kimono has been part of my summer wardrobe as seen in a couple of previous posts. The jersey fabric makes it a perfect transitional layer as it’s light enough to be worn underneath a coat. I didn’t get the top until about 3wks ago – I’m gutted I didn’t see it sooner because it’s quite summery! But layering it like this is going to increase its shelf a bit, yay. I adore pugs, currently trying to convince Mr Alice to let me have one with no success(boo!). There’s a definite bra sitch – as you can see the cut is very open so the ideal is to be brave and go without (which, as someone who has lost 5st and a lot of boobage, is more brave than you know!). However I’ve also tried it with a bandeau underneath which looks cute and creates another layer for the transitioning weather, a fitted vest underneath could also work. These shoe boots are still my pet faves! You’ll be seeing them quite a bit in future posts.

I can’t believe I haven’t discovered this sooner! A friend mentioned them when I started my quest to restock my wardrobe for A/W. They do a lot of celeb inspired looks and some great value designer copies which lead me to be inspired to put together a potential outfit option for London Fashion Weekend (which I’m trying my hardest to attend, schedule permitting!)
I thought this look channelled a bit of VB who as we know is a staple of LFW (and who just killed it with her presentation at NYFW) with the simple shape of the dress which is going to be flattering and also comfortable to move around in when running in between shows and parties. I went for a print as I’m a total sucker for tartan and the berry red colour is going to be huge for the coming season so it seemed perfect! A big bag is a must to carry around all of your fashion week essentials (make up/hair stuff/tablet/phone etc) and this one picks up the red in the dress as well as it looking super stylish draped casually over your arm as you strut into Somerset House. I’m not a head to toe chic gal, so I picked the pleather biker to toughen up the look a little which the tartan could also tie in with as well. I’d finish off with either some black pointed courts or shoe boots depending on my mood that day – smoky Cara D eyes and a more neutral lip.

FASHION/ Weekly style round up
What a week for fashion – Soooooo many styles for my little eyes to feast on and enjoy!
Daytime style
So there’s three very different vibes going on here – Lilah’s holding onto the summer, Kim’s holding onto the night before, and Anne is racing through to full on autumn! Although Lilah’s outfit (the pic of which is borrowed from her Instagram) is a little sunnier than the weather’s been this week (well, up North at least) it still embraces the A/W trends of moody winter floral and the two piece. Ah, I always enjoy Lilah’s style. Kim looks gorgeous – the monochrome, the cut of the jumpsuit, the cute booties, that hair! But this is a look that us mere mortals would wear for a night out rather than to an early morning radio show, nevertheless she dances to the beat of her own drum and I like the rhythm.
I always get excited when I see SJP wear something that immediately transforms her into Carrie Bradshaw like this look on the left! Here’s a question, what came first – SJP style brought into CB, or CB style (as translated by Pat Field) creeping in SJP? The right look is more her, running around with her children she usually looks incredible dressed down (that’s putting it politely). Here she’s managed to look casual in jeans but evolved into a more stylish ‘mummyform’ (uniform for mamas) with the addition of the fab ankle boots, turned up hems, oversized shopper and glossy wavy hair.
Mono Love
Black and white are my fave, for me it can sometimes stand out way more than any bright colour can. I think it’s the five years I was forced to wear it for senior school that’s finally rubbed off on me in adulthood, but I rock it a whole lot better how..I think! As do these ladies
Liberty Ross is gorgeous but not in your face with it and that is why she can pull off a more tailored look and still be absolutely stunning rather than masculine. The glossy hair, print and smoky eye are HAWT. Jess is a bit more in ya face gorgeous and is hitting us full on with he curves in that dress….I like it! The black side panels are hitting her curves perfectly yet the print keeps it interesting, and I’d totally rock those colour pops! This dress is from her own range at Lipstick Boutique which you can buy here http://m.lipstickboutique.co.uk/jessica-wright-dresses/jessica-wright-celine-884 Anna’s gone along a similar line with that fabulous print (nice job in the print this week girlies!) but in a more age appropriate style. That said her style of shoe and jacket are giving off a bit of a Little Red Riding Hood vibe no? Should look silly and childish but I think paired with this frock it looks quickly and girly.
There’s a lot I like about Rita’s look, but also things I don’t. I like – the overall style of the dress and the racer stripe detail at the back, the front view of her hair. I also like the sunnies, I wouldn’t normally put them with an evening look but it was still sunny and it is Rita so adds a bit of her quirk on the look so still makes sense. I’m less keen on the fact that you can see her bra, I know we all wear them but it kind of makes what I’m sure is an expensive dress look a bit cheap. I’m also fairly sure that these are the exact boots Ginger Spice wore with her Union Jack dress so the 90s throwback look is being channelled which I really like and is definitely Rita, but look at them wrong and they could also be cheap too? A fabulous caged heel or pointed court would’ve looked so fierce!
Evening Style
The Brit celebs have been just as glam on this side of the pond as the divas at NYFW have it seems! Pixie is wearing a beautiful boho sort of evening gown but has toughened it up with her trusty biker, exactly what I’d do! The emerald on Jessie is uh-may-zing! If I had Danielle Loyd’s body I’d be showing off a lot of skin too! Even though it’s a little dress I think the neckline, hair and shoes make it feel glam and fierce rather than too much. And remember, she is about my age and a mother of 3 boys under 5 looking that hot!! Just gonna pull in my trainers and hit the gym I think……
Hope you enjoyed this week’s round up, let me know your thoughts as always. Part 2 of NYFW coming tomorrow, it’s already looking very big…

FASHION/ New York Fashion Week so far
It’s here again! I get so excited by NY and London fashion weeks, as well as the fabulous runway looks we also get celebs and fashion muses turning out the style in the FRows and at the hot fashion parties. It really would’ve been too much to put into a single post (as well as including all of my other best dressed highlights from the week) so I’m making it a three parter. Enjoy!
Runway Fab
1- Naheem Khan
One of the first shows I think. Gorgeous pastel shades, ornate patterned gowns with sheer panels, shimmery beading and colour pop tribals. Great start!2 – BCBG
More pastels lots of pink, yay! Most of the collection is beautiful silky looking garments with a lot of swish but they’ve also added in a little texture with faux fur (at least I hope it’s faux) and leather. Getting a bit excited as the prospect of rocking some chic pink pleather in S/S 2015…3- Zac Posen
Dramatic ball gown glamour baybee! If I don’t see a few celebs rocking some of these beauties down the red carpets in awards season I’ll be shocked…
Maybe Anne Hathaway in this oneSophia Vergara would look her usually va va VOOM in this one
Could really see Julia Roberts or Cate Blanchett in this
Maybe Kim K on a dressed down day?!?!
4- Betsey Johnson
My FAVE by far!! How could it not be? It’s a fabulous mix of 80s Madonna meets ditzy prints meets tulle meets a bit of 60s meets candy floss. They may work best as more editorial pieces but I can’t wait to see which celebs may be brave enough to wear these!FRow and Fashion Party Looks
Quite frankly, my faith in humanity may have been shaken if I wasn’t including SJP and Olivia Palermo in this post. SJP has killed it for me this week (she’ll in my weekly style round up tomorrow) and this cobalt dress looks fabulous – the style is flattering and age appropriate and the extra pop of lime in amongst the already vibrant hue is guaranteed to make her stand out. She is SJP after all. I kind of feel like the armful of boho style bangles are throwing it a bit though as they take a little of the polish away from the overall look. And, as much as I’m crushing on her hair, I’m wondering if an up do may have been better? I like that Olivia has done two classy looks in completely different ways as well – firstly in the super chic 60s print monochrome shift with the sleeveless blazer (need. these. in. my. wardrobe. NOW) and then with the tailored pencil skirt/shirt combo in double denim. The best bit for me? She’s wearing the same shoes with both, which makes me feel a bit better about the fact that I pretty much wear the same 3 pairs of shoes with everything! I also really like colour blocking of Jamie Chung’s look as well it seems very typical fashionista at fashion week and exactly what I want to see!
Hey baby hey baby hey…again, it couldn’t really be fashion week without Gwen Stefani popping up! I adore this first look and am going to be trying my hardest to find a high street copy of it IMMEDIATELY (so if anyone’s seen it, let me know) It’s joggers, it’s animal print with tartan inside, it’s moody and fierce, it doesn’t look overdone for all the different trends it’s hitting….aarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!! The other outfit is from her L.A.M.B catwalk presentation which a great alternative to a dark floral, possibly the non floral equivalent to the outfit I posted yesterday? Gwen has followed Oliva’s lead and worn the same shoes twice (and are also quite similar in their fierceness). Yay.
When your name is Coco Rocha, a combination of two high designer’s names, you kind of have the gauntlet thrown down to be one stylish chick. Coco laughs in the face of the gauntlet! Well actually she pouts those beautiful red lips and looks very polished with it.
Sometimes, particularly at fashion events like these, I feel like Poppy is my favourite Delevigne. Please don’t tell anyone.
This is the most shocking Rihanna look I think I’ve ever seen! I really like seeing her go a bit girly and cutesy, not that she looks too happy about it does she (there were pics of her smiling but you couldn’t see the outfit in its fully glory) she’s committed to the look with the pearl accessories and the white pointed court Loubs with delicate laser cut out pattern are a reminder that she’s attending a high fashion event, although I think the lace up bits may be a bit too RiRi and a bit less pure than the rest of her outfit. It’s nice to see her hair curly too.
Part 1 has taught us that fierce footwear is in! I will be shoe boots with even greater pride in this knowledge.
Hope you enjoyed the first part, Weekly Style Round Up is on it’s way tomorrow.
