  • FASHION/ Weekly Style Round Up

There have been some beautiful celeb style looks this week everywhere around the world, but most have come from The Big Apple where NYFW is in full swing!

    Nude, Pink and White Tones

I never thought I’d need to know the phrase “snakeskin Errrthang” but thanks to Kim, now I do! Kendall’s Celine dress is lush but I wish she’d have put a lighter coloured boot with it to keep her look tonal. Danni Armstrong looks the most beautiful I’ve ever seen her (though she looks great most of the time anyways) you can steal the same holiday style by checking out @toriasboutique on Instagram. And I’m just gonna say it – now she’s Kesha (not Ke$ha) she looks da bomb dot com! And my fellow Northern girl Dani Lloyd looks elegant and girly as always. Nicely done ladies

    Black n White

My fave colour palette of all time! I may with others every season, but this is where I’m loyal. Sienna, Blake and SJP are SERIOUSLY smokin hot mamas, Blake literally had her baby weeks ago and looks like that?!?! I need to have what she’s having please! Dakota Johnson looks exactly like ‘Ms Steele’ when she becomes Mrs Grey – a little sultry and suggestive but still with a hint of innocence. Even though critics have panned it and I know it won’t be the book (because that would be porno) I’m looking forward to see what they e done with it.

    Darker Tones

I like Katie Holmes’ look but can’t help thinking it’s not really her, no? But kudos to her for trying something new, that’s what fashion is allllllll about. And again Kesha, you’re killing me here! Great mix of girly lace and tough biker (who doesn’t like a great biker jacket to give an outfit a good edge) the dress was pretty spectacular standing but there aren’t good enough pics which is a shame. Ferne is a girl after my own heart – fiercely chilled style, and with the fact that she adores fashion and food as much as me. I just wish I’d have thought of her blog name (Fashionable Foodie) first, it’s great!

Hope you enjoyed the round up, I have a busy week writing about Bonnie&Clyde, rapture fiction and hitting LFW ahead!

  • FASHION/ That’s a wrap

Another post, another blanket Cape to add to my growing collection. This one is a bit lighter than the rest and is more of a layer than an outdoor cover up on a chilly winter day, but when did that ever stop a woman in the name of fashion!

(Just as an aside – I almost got into trouble shooting this look, I leant on the door a little bit by accident and the owner came out to see what we were doing…whoops!)

This sort of blanket needs to be the focus so everything underneath is really simple. Not that you can see it as I’ve literally swamped myself in it rather than belting round the middle like I’ve done before, I just fancied a change and to be a bit more casual with it. This is what I’m wearing underneath

    IMG_9056-0

Eden jeggings are BACK! Actually they never went away, I still wear them as much as my ripped skinnies, I just haven’t blogged a pair in a while. Although the pieces underneath are simple they’re still cool enough to work on their own as well. As the blanket has navy in it, it would’ve been rude not to trot out my new fave PLT boots (as seen in my last post) I think the grey and navy work really nicely together.

  • FASHION/ High Necks n Thigh Highs

2 of my current obsessions are funnel neck tops and over the knee boots. You’ve seen I’ve been living in my black thigh high boots but now they have competition from these navy stiletto beauties! I’ve been wearing them allllll the time, much to Mr Alice’s annoyance as he has to keep backing the car up to avoid grass so my heels don’t sink in the mud!

I’m really into this tile print on the dress – kind of cool mix between retro and modern geo. I think accessories need not apply with this look as the dress shouts loud enough.

I was going to do a Style Picks post from the Grammys at the weekend, but to be honest there weren’t that many looks that I went nuts for this year. Mucho disappointed! But I ADORED Taylor Swift’s dress and was pretty impressed by Nicole Kidman’s demure yet fierce cut out LBD.

Hope you like this look, thanks for reading

  • Fashion. Food. Fun / Rockin’ on with Ruby

I had a cheeky lil trip to Manchester this week which allowed me to indulge in three of my main passions – I got to eat (a LOT) shop with my girl Alex (aka Champagne and Lemonade) and have some fun at the Rock on Ruby blogger event. And I had an awesome time!

Outfit wise, I wanted to do something casual and easy breezy. I didn’t get a proper shot of me in it so I took a pic when I got home. I had a couple of issues with it sadly – my jeans waistband was digging in halfway through the day because I was a naughty girl and ate far too much cake over brunch, and my plimsolls (which I put on to be fashionably sensible as I knew I’d be walking lots) ended up rubbing on my feet and giving me awful blisters! Note to self, trainer socks next time

The event itself was at The Font in Manchester, an awesome bar with a wide selection of very cheap and yummy cocktails…which everyone had to sample, just to check they were nice…hehe. The ROR ladies decorated our area to be kitsch and quirky, right up my street. Checked table cloths, retro sweeties/cakes and lots of slogan tees…blogger heaven for Curious Alice!

    IMG_8995

There was also a clothes swap as part of the event which was a great idea (and one I’m definitely stealing for the next #HullBloggers event in the summer) it was really nice to see my clothes get new homes and I’m looking forward to see how you lovely blogging babes are gonna style them up! I managed to pick up a cute clutch bag that I’ve had me eye on for a while, not only a slogan but DOUBLE slogan! Thanks Michelle for bringing it

    IMG_8984

    IMG_8985

And of course, I couldn’t leave without picking up some official ROR goodies. I pre ordered a couple of bits to collect on the day, here’s a sneaky peak but I’m not showing my slogans until I style them into upcoming blog posts!

Typically, I was too busy chatting to everybody and forgot to take some proper pics of people! I managed to take a couple of giddy silly piccies with Alex at the end of the afternoon

I had a great time with everyone, already looking forward to the next one!

  • LIFESTYLE/ Life Essentials

I don’t normally do this sort of post so I don’t know how it’s going to go, please bear with me! As an English Student / Fashion Blogger there are things I can’t get through my day without easily, which I’ve refreshed for 2015 – not only a great year, but MY YEAR!

    IMG_8958

    IMG_8959

    Tablet
I do EVERYTHING on this (including typing this post right now!) from blogging, uni research and social media catch ups. It travels with me most places and as a result my last bubblegum pink cover got wrecked, so I’ve replaced it with this beautiful Tiffany blue number (I’ve held against a Tiffany bag and its a perfect match!) It was only a cheap number from Amazon and I haven’t tested it out and about as yet, but it already stands upright better than my “official” cover did and looks more wipe cleanable (that’s a word, trust me I’m an English undergrad)

    Diary
I like to have a quick paper record to refer to, and personally I find it a easier to plan my uni deadlines in it. I’m so thrilled to have this lil number as my 2015 planner, courtesy of http://www.personal-planner.co.uk/EN/
It’s very thorough and has cute pics for universal events like Mothers Day, as well as it being a cheeky extra plug for Curious Alice Loves… whilst I’m out and about! I was introduced to the brand at the #HullBloggers event and well as my own I bought planners for my mum and Mr Alice as Christmas presents.

    Mugs
Anybody who follows me on Instagram may know that I enjoy a good mug as much as a slogan tee! This one is from http://www.thehullshop.co.uk and can also be picked up from Eden in Hull. I can assure you that the slogan is very true, this mug ain’t telling no lies!

Something to go in the mug
I drink pretty much every hot drink – tea, coffee, hot choc and Peanut Hottie…yum! During the day I can usually be found drinking plain old warm water at home (which I suggest you try, excellent benefits to the metabolism) but I usually start the day with a green tea. I’ve just discovered these new Tetley’s ones which I’m really enjoying, not only do they smell lovely but they actually have some taste which a lot of others don’t….and that’s pretty nice too! I picked mine up in ASDA on offer for £1 per pack.

What do you all use everyday that helps you function? I’m always keen to pick up new tips.

I’m hoping more of my own style posts will be on the way soon, but I need this horrible weather to do one so I can shoot outside without fear of freezing or ruining my clothes first! Thanks for being patient.

    *UPDATE*
I recently included a competition on a post running with http://www.farfetch.com to win £2500 that was due to end earlier this week…the competition dates have changed and this is now running from 10-18 February, so even more chance to enter and win! This is a reminder of the link http://www.farfetch.com/refer-a-friend
