Depending on how you view it – this post is either a day late or 6 days early for my usual Sunday timing…

There’s Good Genes, and Those who Look Good in Jeans

    IMG_8932

Proof seen right here on lil Miss Kendall Jenner – it’s ok to live in your off duty uniform! Same jeans, shoes and shades (shot in different lights which makes the colours look a bit different in each shot). I’m obsessed with my ripped knee skinnies as part of my go to style right now, but nobody would deserve to see that much of my thigh flesh under so many rips though! But Miss Pap make a really similar version of Kenny’s at a great price here http://www.misspap.co.uk/laura-light-wash-super-ripped-skinny-jeans.aspx
Yup, Frankie and Sam’s subtle rips are what I usually strut the halls of uni wearing…and I’m kind of upset that my fave jeans come in yet another colour I have to try and resist…I also think khaki skinnies are what All Saints would wear if they reformed right now! Buy them here http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/moto-khaki-ripped-jamie-jeans-4087193?geoip=noredirect&cmpid=ppc_pla_UK_ip&utm_medium=cpc&tsrc=vdna&istCompanyId=38aa0d7f-6514-4cb3-bbdc-df0d32d48b7f&istItemId=pprwqplqi&istBid=tztx&gclid=Cj0KEQiA3bymBRC19IrD7O_NrYsBEiQAb2dpA5ZWq5rivMxYCIiOtbE6YW4Jk7grU8OHVpEzIR2GcGcaAhQl8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds
Billie’s khaki look is soooo damn chic! Her ribbed high neck top is a little like this Top Shop number which I own in grey and wear to death http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?searchTerm=Funnel+neck&storeId=12556&productId=18333521&urlRequestType=Base&categoryId=&langId=-1&productIdentifier=product&catalogId=33057

It’s nice to see some warmer tones in A/W, and there definitely ain’t nuthin’ mellow about this yellow! Solange really does embody that mantra of “the world is your runway” doesn’t she?
The Whitmore’s looking good as always – a great combo of quirky and chic. The colours/pattern aren’t scary to wear if you’re not used to that sort of thing either so anyone could try this sort of thing, maje props to Laura for pulling a double red lip with her lip AND bag. Triumph!
Mollie’s gorgeous brown mini would look amazing with a lovely mustard yellow, and it can be dressed up or down for the occasion or the weather. I’d definitely pair it with a cool slogan tee for cheeky evening drinks. River Island always do great faux leather skirts, this one is similar to Mollie’s http://www.riverisland.com/women/skirts/mini-skirts/Brown-leather-look-mini-skirt-666806

    IMG_8935

White can be fabulously angelic, chic, stylish yet look devilishly good it would seem…a lot of the ladies in this week’s round up are sorting fabulous pointed courts in various shades, and Boohoo have them in each colour for a complete steal here http://www.boohoo.com/page/search?q=Court+heels
My top props go to Amanda Holden this week, I’m obsessed with her looks in these pics from the Britain’s Got Talent auditions. She’s one of those women that’s looked after herself really well and gets better looking and more stylish with age, kind of like I hope I’m doing if I’m honest!

Some fabulous looks again this week, hope you enjoyed as well. On that note, I’m off to hit the virtual shops and give my not so virtual account a bit of a beating….

  • FASHION/ January Style Round Up

I can’t believe the first part of 2015 is over already – it’s been a whirlwind of blogging, essay writing and the birthday celebrations of one Mr Alice… I’m stuffed full of food and excited about what’s to come next! It’s also been the start of awards season so my posts have been dominated with more celeb style and less fashion a la Alice. I’m already working hard to change that for February, but the Grammies and LFW are coming soooo…..

A true mish mash of style to kick off the year, hope you enjoyed! It’s also been a month of discovery of new brands. I’ve found a really quirky site called http://www.farfetch.com/ which is like Net A Porter with all sorts of designer goodies that are adorable. The best things is, they’re running a competition until 3 Feb to win £2500 to spend on the site….how fabulous! I’ve entered, this is the link if you’re feeling lucky http://www.farfetch.com/refer-a-friend (don’t forget who told you about it if you win, hint hint)

  • FASHION/ Hopping in the camel train

I’ve been searching for months and gone on about it numerous times, but I’ve finally found it….a camel coat with a great shape! In my eyes, a good camel overcoat is one of THE most eternally classy pieces in a fashionistas wardrobe and will never date. I think my only mistake was wearing this beauty on a day that was a bit too chilly to be out without a jumper, because it doesn’t fasten up. I still see this as a good thing as it makes it very much part of the overall outfit rather than just something to throw over it when you’re outside

    IMG_8791

    IMG_8779

You may have also noticed that my hair appears to have grown a LOT here – meet my newest haviour (hair saviour, if you recall). This is another .hair Rehab London purchase and I honestly already adore it as much as my messy bun. I really wish they’d bring out fringes now!
The rest of the look I wanted to keep simple for a day of shopping and lunching, and what better than jeans and a cool slogan tee (my very own personalised slogan no less). I probably wouldn’t wear these shoes on an average shopping trip in January, but they’re newbies that I was desperate to break in. However this lead to slight mistake number 2- shooting the look in an area of Hull that’s very pretty but also has cobbled streets…oopsie! Thank heavens for Mr Alice and his gentlemanly attempts to keep me upright.

  • FASHION/ SAG Awards Style PICKS (SAG 2015)

I’m going red carpet cray lately with all these celeb style looks to fawn over, every one brings us a lil bit closer to the Big One….(The Oscars, obviously). The SAG awards had soooo many interesting looks, all hail Hollywood for not being boring! My main critique goes to the photographers – some their angles aren’t showing off the outfits to their best advantage…

    White Hot

    2015/01/img_8841.jpg

    2015/01/img_8842.jpg
White really does stand out when done right! I like Reese doing something very simple and pared back from head to toe. Elegant and gorgeous.
The Downton girly next to her (I don’t know many names from this carpet, so this will be a common theme) has been a bit more risky with her look – tuxedo mini meets chiffon maxi – but it looks fab. I think she should’ve followed Reese’s lead with her hair and put it back to focus purely on the dress, those beachy waves are kind of distracting.
These two are soooo pretty! The Game of Thrones lovely looks cute yet fashion forward, it reminds me a little of a toned down version of the Lucy Liu epic floral number circa last year. Again she also needs to have a word with her hair though, a nice simple low bun would’ve look great.
The last gown is unashamedly girly, but I like that as its a little more pure than the rest.

    Making a Colour Splash

    2015/01/img_8843.jpg

POW! These gals are getting themselves NOTICED. I’m crushing hard on the pink high necked number, ridiculously simple and on trend (with a massive cut out in the back as well, eek) I’ve actually seen some great high street alternatives to this look at Honor Gold, they’re totally amazing for glam looks. These aren’t quite as high necked but every bit as stunning http://www.honorgold.co.uk/product/faye-coral-maxi-dress/ and http://www.honorgold.co.uk/product/milly-red-backless-dress/
I’m really torn about this blue number. On one hand, the colour is amazing and the gathering detail is really unique. On the other, kind of looks like she’s tucked into her knickers. Thoughts?
This tangerine number is simple yet still interesting, but if worn by any other body type would probably just look a bit awkward or frumpy around the boobs. But the colour on her is beautiful and it fits her amazingly as a red carpet gown should so kudos!

    Game Changer

    2015/01/img_8839.jpg

    2015/01/img_8840.jpg

Wow Kate Hudson. Ooooooohhhhhhhh WOW. In some of the pap pics even her mother and Donatella Versace were drooling over her in this frock! It’s very covered yet fitted so appears demure, but those racy cut outs make it veeeeerrrrrrry clear that she’s not wearing any underwear whatsoever…but really, who cares when the result is this hot?!?!

    The Dark Side

    2015/01/img_8844.jpg

I’ve said it already this week – black is so not boring. It takes a more confidence if anything to wear it on the red carpet as you have to work to make it stand out. And well done Joanne for working it for the Brits and looking simply stunning in her glam BD. True Hollywood. If only the Americans had seen her when she started out on Corrie, they’d be shocked!
Julia is a bit hit and miss in the carpet but not this year. Although, unusually for her, by wearing a black suit rather than a gown she’s following this year’s red carpet trend of trousers rather than dancing to the beat of her own drum which is unlike her. Sexy and classy can’t be sniffed at though!
I always appreciate Emma’s fashion forward ness, and this is kind of another variation of the White tuxedo mini meets chiffon maxi but done more simply. I like it as a compromise between wanting to wear a shorter dress but keeping with convention on her own terms. It’d have been so fab if she detached the chiffon and changed her hair for the after parties.

    Bit of Interest

    2015/01/img_8845.jpg

    2015/01/img_8836-0.jpg

Sometimes I think Jen is a little too safe and samey when she’s working a red carpet. So I like that she still is working a bit of the ‘same old’ but that she’s pushing herself a little with the print and the bejewelled cleavage strip. Higher fashion done in a very understated way, works really well for her.
I wasn’t keen on Lupita’s last awards dress with the flowers, but this one peaked my curiosity a little more. The print looks really familiar, I’ve seen it on the high street in a few places so it already makes it quite accessible to people wanting a piece of the look. The longer sleeves and the cut out neckline make the dress itself a little more subtle so that the print is carrie doff better. Yes, I think this means fashion fierce Lupita is comin’ back!
Claire Danes always looks really good. She’s one of THOSE girls, but I’ll always have a soft spot for her anyway! This is some really prominent yet subtle detailing which helps highlight how BANGIN’ her body is. And is fairly high fashion too. Go Claire!

What a selection eh! Who were your faves, and your misses?

  • FASHION/ Weekly Style Round Up

Rounding the week off with some non awards show style picks

    Think Pink

    2015/01/img_8761.jpg

I really like these pink ensembles because they have a great combination of textures and shapes. Props in particular to my girl J-Lo who’s managed to pull off wearing silk trousers and not got them creased as she’s walking/sitting…I’ve seen other celebs fail at doing that this week *cough, Ciara*
Kesha looks hammered, but she’s also dressed in one of the best/most normal looks I’ve ever seen her in so deserves a shout out! A duster coat has the ability to feel a little bit glam whilst being comfy I think, usually because of their slinky feeling material when they’re like this. I own this one by Boohoo which comes in a gorgeous nude/blush colour similar to Kesha’s http://www.boohoo.com/layla-longline-pocket-duster/invt/azz20688
Jennifer’s look – I just feel the need to point out that style is DEFINITELY in the name, obviously – is more funky and fashion forward in the geo print with the cute ankle boots. Great fit to her bangin body too…..jealous, me? Er, yeah!

    LWD

    2015/01/img_8757.jpg

A fabulous alternative to the LBD, if you’re not clumsy and prone to spills like me! This could totally be standout as much as any colour and look HAWT.
I’m a long time Louise Roe fan, her Instagram is totally my aspiration and she’s such a classy gal! This dress is gorgeous on her, and those shoes….I can’t even…I’ve seen a similar dress in Missguided that has a few of the sheer panels and is a great bargain http://www.missguided.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/156664/s/strappy-mesh-detail-midi-dress-white/category/477/
I can’t believe that Katie got stick for this outfit, just because she copied it from the runway. Let’s just flip that on its head for a minute – she’s hot enough to be able to not only rock the exact look, but she looks amazing in it! It’s a very accessible look that a lot of girls could wear, I definitely want to.
I’m a fan of a good slogan tee and a cute t shirt dress which you’ll probably know from some of my previous posts, so I was always gonna like Miley’s outfit. It’s as accessible as Katie’s (and Louise’s) but in a totally different way. PLT have this really cute number at the moment, I think Miley would totally approve of the over the knee boots as a winter alternative (next on my boots list too perhaps?) https://www.prettylittlething.com/colette-le-freak-oversized-slogan-t-shirt-dress.html

    Jumpin’ Jumpin’

    2015/01/img_8760.jpg

Three very different women wearing the black jumpsuit…and all killing it! I like Kendall’s casual take on it, the right style can definitely be dressed up or down (perhaps with a cheeky lil tee underneath in the chilly weather?). The pumps that she’s wearing are a style that I totally live in on my off duty days too…who’s keeping up with who now eh? Haha. These Top Shop beauties are really similar, and if you wear them as much as I wear mine they’ll work out even more bargainous http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/shoes-430/flats-459/tipi-croc-skaters-3233508?bi=1&ps=20
I get the feeling that this is a casual night out look for Gwyneth too, but she looks hot either way. Missguided have a nicely cut and simple jumpsuit that could give the same sort of look http://www.missguided.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/153322/s/tailored-wrap-lapel-jumpsuit-black/category/526/
Go Meryl! She’s gone for a great fit to show off her curves but kept it more covered up and (dare I say?) age appropriate. The only thing I’d change is the belt – something a little smaller/ simpler would’ve looked good. But I found a really nice version of this too, also from misguided http://www.missguided.co.uk/trixette-cross-over-jumpsuit

    Kendall, Kendall, Kendall….

    2015/01/img_8741.png

This from her latest Vogue shoot. She looks on point. I have nothing further to add.

    B***h Stole my Look!

    2015/01/img_8759.jpg

I see you Lopez – workin’ dat “I’m still Jenny from the block” vibe….well, this seems very similar to a casual look that I blogged back in September

    2015/01/img_6456.jpg

Mine is more Primarni in Hull than Armarni in da Hood but still, I think this proves that us #fbloggers set the A-list style now….obviously she read the post and thought “hmmmm….” Obviously. In my dreams. She was also riding a unicorn I think. Top Shop do a similar pair of joggers http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/clothing-427/trousers-447/space-dye-loungewear-joggers-4059988?bi=1&ps=20 and crop top http://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/clothing-427/tops-443/long-sleeve-slubby-crop-top-4011196?refinements=Colour%7b1%7d~%5bblack%5d&bi=1&ps=20

That’s it for now! I’ll be bringing you my style picks from the SAG awards next week, and hopefully some style if my own. Thanks for reading lovelies
